Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Specialist, Poland - Ukraine Refugee Crisis Response at Plan International

Job Title: Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Specialist, Poland - Ukraine Refugee Crisis Response

Location: Poland - may travel to other response hubs to provide support as needed
Type of Role: Minimum of one month fixed term contract
Functional Area: Ukraine Crisis; Poland Partnerships Support Hub

Travel required: Up to 60% (often at short notice)

Role Purpose

• The conflict in Ukraine is resulting in a major humanitarian crisis with over 3 million people having fled to neighboring countries, and millions displaced within Ukraine.
• Plan International is responding to the crisis and working in partnership with civil society organisations in Poland, Romania, and Moldova to meet the key needs of those affected by the crisis as well as host communities.
• This position will play a key role in the support to country level activities and will provide technical support and guidance to Plan International teams and partners in Poland.
• The Poland partnerships Support Hub is a service-oriented structure to support Polish partner organisation’s respond to the influx of people affected by conflict in Ukraine. Creative thinking and identifying work arounds to problems faced will be a critical element of the role.

Dimensions of the Role

• The position will develop Plan International’s approach in Poland to SRHR needs with focus on adolescents and young people, working with partners in response to the Ukraine Refugee Crisis.
• This role is also intended to strengthen the Partner Organisations’ commitment to a safe, responsive and inclusive response, with strong focus on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI).

Responsibilities

• Define aims and objectives of SRHR interventions in the emergency and provide technical input into programmes to improve the design and impact of the work (incl. on access to SRHR (incl. HIV) information and services, Menstrual Health and Hygiene activities in country, and recognising the specific needs of adult women, and adolescent girls and survivors of SGBV).
• Support the partnerships team with identifying a diverse range of national partners (incl. health service providers) who will be able to support the provision of support to those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
• Map service provision in country and assess the quality and age- and gender-responsiveness of services, identifying areas where Plan International could provide additional support.
• Represent Plan International in the Health Working Group in Poland.
• Conduct assessments as needed, developing key recommendations for Plan International and the wider humanitarian sector.
• Provide input to the development of ongoing emergency response plans.
• Represent Plan International with in-country donors, UN agencies and peers.
• Identify in-country referral mechanisms and identify opportunities for Plan International to support or strengthen.
• Support Information Management, communications, and advocacy efforts to ensure that SRHR integration in relevant products (incl. SitReps).

Technical Expertise, Skills And Knowledge
Essential:

• Demonstrable experience and expert knowledge of key practice and standards for SPHERE and Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and prevention of sexual assault and exploitation (PSEA)
• Significant experience of SRHR programming including ability to analyse the impact of crises on SRHR of children, adolescents and young people
• Understanding of the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health in crises, and being able to identify ways in which Plan International can support its roll out, and understanding of gender-transformative approaches in humanitarian contexts
• Actively promoting diversity, gender equality and inclusion.
• Conversant with the international humanitarian architecture, particularly related to coordination and funding. Demonstrated prior experience of engaging with the humanitarian coordination system at local, regional and global levels.
• Strong training, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Solid communications, influencing and persuasion skills.
• Good writing and editing skills, including fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work independently.
• Capacity to manage demanding workloads, often in complex environments.
• Aptitude to prioritise tasks, work independently and to tight deadlines.
• Close attention to detail.
• Strong team and cross departmental working.
