Consultant - Radio Drama Sound Engineer at Breakthrough ACTION

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant - Radio Drama Sound Engineer

Location: Abakaliki, Ebonyi
Period of Engagement: 3 months (June – August 2022)

Job Purpose

• Core to this package of work will be the provision of Technical expertise for the recording, audio editing/sound designing of Jide Ka I Ji radio drama.
• The desired candidate will also work closely with BA-N’s SBC Officer in Ebonyi State, to build the capacity of selected studio engineers from EBBC and EBSU Radio to be able to record, edit and sound design a radio drama using Jide Ka I Ji as a training tool.

Main Duties

• Provide technical leadership during the pre-production, production and post-production phases of Jide Ka I Ji Radio drama
• Lead a team of other sound engineers/designers to set up and strike off locations/drama before and after each recording.
• Supervise the management of recording equipment including, but not limited to computers, microphones, recorders, cables e.t.c.
• Oversee the sound designing of the episodes of Jide Ka I Ji Radio drama and accompanying promotional spots
• Build the capacity of sound engineers from partner media organizations to be able to record, edit and sound design a radio drama

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience of producing and sound designing a location-based, multi-character, multi-strand radio or TV drama.
• Strong knowledge of indoor and outdoor sound recording
• Ability to manage crowd scenes in a drama set
• Strong knowledge of radio drama sound designing
• Ability to work within a demanding schedule and to tight deadlines effectively.
• Mentoring, training and capacity developing.
• Previous experience of working in a development context.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
• Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work effectively with a diverse range of people
• Ability to communicate fluently in Igbo language will be an added advantage.
