Solidity Developer (Remote) at Energy Web (EW)

Energy Web is a global technology organisation accelerating a low-carbon, customer-centric electricity system by building an open-source digital Operating System to address the rapidly increasing complexity of modern electricity grids worldwide. Our mission is to catalyze the development and adoption of Web3.0 solutions that increase the utilization of green energy and reduce carbon emissions at the gigaton scale. 

To do so, we work with our global network of Member organizations to develop and deploy the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System (EW-DOS), a full stack of decentralized infrastructure services and software development toolkits focused on self-sovereign identities, renewable energy markets, and grid integration of distributed energy resources. It's all anchored by the Energy Web Chain, the first open-source, enterprise blockchain platform tailored to the energy sector.

Reporting: This position will work across multiple EW development teams and report to the Utility Layer Solution Architect

Job Description

• We are seeking a Solidity Developer to join our team and help build and scale the Utility Layer of the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System (EW-DOS), an open-source software stack to create the digital infrastructure to decarbonize the grid.
• On any given day you might find yourself developing smart contracts to enable Service Provider and Patron staking in Switchboard, working with internal DevOps team to scale Utility Layer services across multiple geographies and cloud environments, or making strategic decisions about the broader EW-DOS technical roadmap.

What Will You Do? 

• You’ll develop the foundational components that support enrolment, subscription, and enforcement of decentralized service level agreements in the Utility Layer. 

What Are Your Responsibilities? 

• Working with Product Owner and Solution Architect rest of the core team to deliver the EWT staking implementation in support of decentralized service level agreements.
• Maintaining technical documentation in GitHub and Confluence.
• Working with the Technical Community Manager to create tutorials and demonstrations that allow other developers to easily use / interact with the components you develop.
• Proposing and implementing improvements to existing EW-DOS technology stack.

Requirements
You are a strong candidate if:

• You have 3+ years of experience in commercial backend engineering (Javascript, Node.JS, Typescript, SQL, No-SQL).
• You have experience writing smart contracts in Solidity in EVM blockchain environments.
• You are comfortable working in an agile setting like SCRUM, Kanban, XP.
• You are proficient in writing scalable, robust, testable, efficient, and easily maintainable code.
• You are excited about open-source software projects and participate in their communities. Extra points if you have experience developing SDK libraries. 
• You have a keen interest and/or direct experience with blockchain and other Web3.0 technologies, especially Ethereum, Solidity, smart contracts and/or Polkadot/Substrate.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complicated technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• You have an entrepreneurial spirit! We need people who are curious, creative, collaborative, and who enjoy building things from the ground up
• English skills are required, but additional language skills are a bonus.
