Job Overview

• Our client requires the services of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to handle geotechnical analysis, designs, risks assessments and reports required to deliver projects on quality, time and budget.

Job Description

• Analyse geotechnical reports, including drawings, blueprints, tests, maps, aerial photographs (on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics) and other topographical and geologic data as required.
• Perform various geotechnical analyses such as bearing/pile capacity, seepage and slope stability, settlement, etc. and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Document all tests carried out, including field test and laboratory tests.
• Prepare engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
• Review plans, schedules, environmental impact studies and designs.
• Carry out site inspection to evaluate and/or monitor work done and compliance to specifications.
• Prepare and/or evaluate cost estimates and provide guidance as necessary.
• Recommend solutions to various problems requiring the knowledge of a geotechnical engineer.
• Ensure the use of appropriate methods, materials and equipment in the performance of the job with strict compliance standards and specifications.
• Provide timely standard reports of work, including ensuring all requisite documentations are maintained.
• Work as part of (and coordinate own work with) a multidisciplinary team of engineering and technical professionals to achieve project objectives.
• Keep abreast of trends and changes in the field area of responsibility
• Promote the company’s values and philosophy in the performance of your services.
• Mentor and train engineering staff as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years demonstrable experience.
• Experience and knowledge in geotechnical design, including earthworks, foundation design, retaining walls, slope stability and settlement analysis.
• Previous site supervision of ground investigation or construction activities is advantageous.
• Experience in development site assessment and feasibility study
• Proficiency in CAD and geotechnical software such as LPILE, PLXIS and FLAC.
• Ability to interact with GIS.
• Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles.
• Ability to prepare and monitor project budget and deliverables.
• Good communication, presentation and technical report writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple project assignments and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and deliver projects on time, quality and budgets.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant constructions/engineering laws, codes, regulations and documentation requirements.
• Certification in project management is an added advantage.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules.
• Willingness to travel or relocate in response to project needs.
