Position Description / Overview
The Technology Assistant is responsible for performing tasks related to the use of technology on campus.
The primary responsibilities will be managing the intake of malfunctioning devices, performing initial diagnosis, and resolving minor issues as well as assisting with CCTV system management and maintenance.
The Technology Assistant must exhibit an ability to positively and collaboratively work with the administration, staff, parents, and students.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain records of all devices; functioning devices, malfunctioning devices, symptoms, fixes, etc.
Assist staff and students in addressing technology-related issues
Coordinate the maintenance and support of school CCTV system
Perform routine maintenance of technology equipment follow up and correct any problems that are detected and notify supervisors of any updates that are needed
Troubleshoot technology problems as they occur - identifying, resolving, and/or correcting various system errors or failures
Address problems in hardware, software, network, and/or procedures
Keep an accurate and up-to-date logbook of all maintenance and repair work, indicating the problem, location, resolution, and any follow-up that is needed
Assist with sending out equipment for repairs, if necessary, including estimates and follow-up documentation
Process and assemble new technology equipment
Preview and install new software
Train users in the operation of new or modified systems and programs
Any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Technology required
Three (3) years of experience with technology systems required
Previous experience working in a school or education environment preferred.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Apple products including iPad, MacBook and Apple TV
Highly skilled in keeping detailed records
Work effectively with children
Operate and maintain a variety of technological equipment
Communicate effectively with others
Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in interacting with all stakeholders of the school community (administration, teachers, students, parents, support staff)
Function within the framework of the school environment (class periods, bell schedules)
Possess excellent organizational skills
Manage and prioritize a variety of requests and tasks.
