Job Title: Business Development Manager

Job Description
This position will assist in the development of a consistent pipeline of new prospects from inception to closing, as well as maintain relationships. In addition to sales, the role will also encompass strategic marketing, presentation development, and proposal delivery.
Aside from client interaction, the BDM will be responsible for site assessments/studies, procurement engagement, new project creation, and contract development.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and prospect potential customers, generate leads, and convert prospects to business
Develop, present, and discuss proposals with customers
Coordinate with other team members and departments to optimize the sales effort.
Describe features, technical specifications, and uses of Renewable Energy products or services to customers.
Provide support in renewable energy solution design and lead the development of project scopes, bills of materials, and other supporting materials to ensure successful proposal submissions that lead to quality projects.
Identify key stakeholders and networks relevant to priority pipeline opportunities for effective prepositioning, and assist the company in forming strategic partnerships with businesses, government agencies, and international organizations
Effectively communicate the organization’s value propositions, cultivate, and manage customer/partner relationships, and provide opportunities for cooperation, networking, and alliance building.
Ensure business development documentation and material are up to date and ready for sharing with potential customers and stakeholders.
In coordination with technical teams, develop evidence-based capability proposals and presentations suitable for winning grants and funding from international stakeholders
Handle sales of Renewable Energy Products & Services to prospects.
Engage in market intelligence, conduct market research, keep abreast with industry trends, identify renewable energy funding and grant opportunities
Develop and maintain a knowledge management system for tracking opportunities from capture to award including maintaining a repository of proposal development templates, pre-award tools, program concepts, capacity statements, proposal templates, pricing tables, etc
Take ownership of customer issues and follow problems through to resolution.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related discipline, or B.Eng. in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or its equivalent. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Sales will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in Business Development or Technical Sales with experience in working to targets and achieving them within established timelines in a commercial, industrial or sales driven role.
Able to lead the customer journey from initial prospect identification to signing contracts
Ability to work with financial models and create detailed customer proposals
Must be experienced in Sales of Solar Power Solutions, Contract, Project and Account Management of Power Systems, Solar PV Systems, UPS, LV/HV Electrical Panels.
Knowledge of UPS Systems, Hybrid Solar, Electrical, and Storage solutions will be of advantage
Previous experience in a similar position is an advantage but not a benchmark
Ability to develop and make presentations for existing and prospective customers, in a professional manner
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills (someone who demonstrates innovative thinking).
