Job Description

• Graphic design is a creative process of presenting or communicating a message through visual imageries. It is quite evident that anything present in the form of images attracts our mind in a better way than any written matter.
• A graphic design specialist responsibilities involve creation of these imageries or visual presentations with the aim of delivering a specific message to us. His/her works are reflected in magazines, books, logos, movies, animations, road signs, product packaging, bill boards and marketing materials to name a few.
• They work with colors, graphics, letters, illustrations, photos and fonts and shape the world in a way that they want us to see. These professionals play a major role in the success of marketing and communications objectives of an organization.
• increasing use of computers and several software programs have made numerous inventions and creations possible each day. This has an immense effect on the field of graphic designing as well.
• Several computer programs like Adobe Photoshop or QuarkXpress allow graphic design specialists and designers to manipulate images and create different forms of designing according to their artistic capabilities and requirements. A graphic design specialist may work in a variety of fields including print design, website design, advertising, product development, logo design, signages, etc.
• Individuals working in this position play a supervisory role and differ from a graphic designer in terms of specialized technical knowledge and skill in graphic design, theory, and practice. Essential Responsibilities

• Provide support to visual communication needs and services
• Create graphic design according to the guidelines in order to achieve desired results
• Develop design concepts and methods to produce graphic artwork and publishing elements for poster designs, newspaper, advertisements, motion video graphics, websites, TV commercials, point of purchase marketing materials, event calendars, etc.
• Research and prepare specifications and cost estimates for graphic design, colors, materials and presentations
• Oversee and participate in a variety of graphic projects from concept to completion
• Consult with clients and department staff requesting for artwork creation, planning and development
• Understand design requirements and produce graphic work accordingly
• Work in collaboration with the graphic designer or other staff for technical guidance or to coordinate production of graphic materials
• Provide suggestions and ideas to improve design materials
• Use various technologies and mediums to produce the best graphic works
• Change and review the work of junior colleagues
• Remain updated with new technologies, theories, practices, and techniques related to graphic design
• Maintain database of images and graphic design and artwork as records and future reference
• Report to the senior management periodically about the status of the project
• Manage and deliver graphic projects within established timelines and budget
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• He/she must be a Graduate from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in Graphics, Fine Art, or a related field.
• He/she should also have at least two (2) years of experience in graphics art, design or publishing.
• Any candidate applying for the position of a graphic design specialist must have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of graphic designing, layout, and creative visual elements
• Creative and artistic in skillfully producing a variety of graphic art work in several forms
• Ability to supervise work of junior team members
• Must be confident in facing client/s and coordinate with them regularly
• Knowledge of interactive technologies to create new ways of combining software and graphic packages
• Ability to understand and use a variety of design software and digital media tools to produce graphic work
• Ability to plan, coordinate, organize and supervise multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently or with teams
• Excellent relation building capability to collaborate with all levels of staff
• Ability to deliver projects within deadline
• Excellent knowledge of new technologies, theories, practices, and techniques related to graphic design
• Excellent problem solving skills

Technical Knowledge:

• Knowledge of software programs including, but not limited to:
  • Adobe Illustrator,
  • Adobe PhotoShop,
  • QuarkXPress,
  • Page Maker,
  • Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
• Basic design, printing standards, technologies and copyright laws.
