Job Title: Senior Manager, Purchasing and Supplies

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • Our client is looking to engage the services of a middle level manager to handle its purchases at a central point in a co-ordinated manner.
  • The individual is expected to be intellectual sound with strong work ethics and a fairly extensive experience.
  • Reports to the GM. Female applicants will be given preferential consideration.

Job Description

  • As Head of Department, to be responsible for the efficient and ethical conduct of the purchases of the organisation, the management of the purchasing and supplies department and team as well as ensuring cost-saving opportunities for the organisation.
  • This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration and management of the department and reports to the GM.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle the processes of purchases in a hands-on manner
  • Sees to the day-to-day running of the department in an efficient manner.
  • Develops purchasing policies that give advantage of time and cost to the organisation and ensures their improvement in response to market trends
  • Ensures strict basis observance of policies governing purchases and the team’s adherence
  • Provides comprehensive reporting to GM on short intensive periods
  • Drive the use of technology in standardising the processes of purchase to limit individual influences
  • Maintain crucial alliances and relationships that give advantage to the business and its purchases.
  • To ensure desired outcome of integrate new technology into company's operations processes.
  • Prepare time schedules for daily activities and conduct Daily Start and Daily Close Meetings.
  • Interact with relevant units and their heads to ensure optimal implementation of purchasing process activities.
  • Create an open and strict engagement policy and interaction with partners, long-time suppliers, manufacturers and technical advisors.
  • Ensure to update relevant technical knowledge of products and company process to enhance optimal functionality in purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare and Present Progress Report to Monthly Management Meetings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Sc. Degree in Science, Engineering, Marketing or other related fields.
  • Certification in Sales or Purchasing & Supplies will be an added advantage (Not Compulsory)
  • M.Sc. Degree in related field, Trainings and Certifications will also be added Advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Technical operations company, especially manufacturing. Tech-related also acceptable.
  • Age: Not More than 35 Years.
  • Trustworthy, Ethically-Oriented and Career-Focused

  • Must be technically sound and able to understand and explain complex technical production and manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Open to learning and able to learn fast.
  • Self-confidence and a professional disposition at all times.
  • A huge ability for negotiation - ability to engage partners productively for the best outcome.
  • Cost saving ability and a natural financial prudence.
  • Female Gender Preferred with a keen eye for quality.
  • Demonstrated time management, sound decision making and leadership skills.
  • Natural leader and problem solver with a sound work ethic and willingness to take responsibility.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Visible Sophistication and Commanding Presence.
