Job Title: Researcher / Reporter

Location: Masha-Surulere Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Develop story ideas based on leads or as assigned by conducting research, investigating and observing
• Arrange and conduct interviews when needed to collect witness statements, get information from experts or individuals involved or work on a lead for a proposed story
• Collect, verify and analyze thoroughly newsworthy information
• Stay up-to-date with the latest current events in the “beat” by studying papers, attending events, etc.
• Gathers information and writes journalistically sound news content for use in all media platforms, existing and future.
• Understands and uses hardware, software, and cloud-based equipment and systems for direct-to-web production and engagement, including posting photographs, stories, databases, and multimedia content.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or English
• 5 - 7 years experience.
• Experience using social media platforms personally and professionally. (Applicants will need to provide information about their social media accounts for a background check.)
• Relevant experience in news reporting and writing, creating enterprising content.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• A focus on producing accurate and factual stories
• Experience as a magazine reporter
• Proficiency with computers and other office equipment
• Experience with social media posting and management
