Citibank Nigeria Limited is currently the largest Citi Country franchise in Africa, generating annual revenues in excess of $200 millions. It has 25 years presence in the country, operating from 13 branches, with staff strength of 300.
Job Purpose:
This role is responsible for the Finance Function in Nigeria. Citibank Nigeria is one of the largest EMEA businesses, with complex business, product and regulatory reporting requirements. The Chief Financial Officer must ensure that all Management and regulatory reporting requirements relating to Citi Nigeria are met in a timely, accurate and consistent manner as failure to do so could lead to wrong decision making within the organisation and regulatory infractions that may result in sanctions.
Background/context:
The Chief Financial Officer is a senior business management role. The individual will lead a team of Financial Analysts and provide the drive and expertise to manage a very diverse and complex business.
Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Reporting:
Establishes and maintains good business relationship with all regulatory agencies
Timely and accurate rendition of regulatory returns listed below.
Attending promptly to routine/adhoc external Citi requests
Coordinates and ensure prompt preparation of all Citi US institutional reporting requirements i.e Condicable, CER, Q-MEMO, Cash Flow, GARS Report etc.
Supports the business and the CCO with quality Management reports
Timely and accurate rendition of the institutional reports listed below.
Condicable, Product Profitability Report (PPR), Line items (Expense Control), Global Account Reconciliation System (GARS) report, Country Exposure Report (CER), Memocable, Cash Flow report.
Financial Performance:
Coordination of budget/forecast inputs from business areas; consolidation of inputs and preparation of output; preparation of Division's requirements.
Preparing financial accounts of the company.
Analysis of results and comparison with forecasts, budgets, plan and competition
Prepares quarterly Financial Performance reports for Board Members consideration.
Prepare Management reports such as Monthly FINSTAT, Account Profitability Report and Cost Allocations.
Tax and Audit:
Liaising with external auditors and tax consultants
Coordination of statutory audits.
Coordinates prompt External Audit exercises and ensure its approval by the Central bank.
Accountable for compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the business in Nigeria
Coordinates routine regulatory examinations by both the Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigeria deposit Insurance Corporation.
Advisory:
Analysis of relevant laws and regulations and advising impact on the business. Relevant laws and regulations include tax laws, the FGN's budgets and Monetary Policy guidelines
Interpretation of accounting and tax policies and advising business implications. Applicable policies include Accounting Standards ( local and international ) and the APCM
Review of product programs and their accounting/tax implication
Process:
Maintenance of up to date systems. Ensuring that Citibank Nigeria's FINCON utilises latest available automated processes.
Constant process improvement
Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial databases
Maintenance of up to date systems i.e ensuring that Citi bank Nigeria Fincon utilizes available automated processes.
Manages Citibank Nigeria Finance functions.
Responsible for effective leadership, training, mentoring and development of staff within the Finance Organisation.
Development Value / Impact :
This role works with Division Chief Financial Officer, Nigeria CCO, Business Unit Heads, Citi Nigeria Limited Board to provide the direction for overall coordination of the execution of Financial performance, strategy and initiatives to ensure that business goals are achieved.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience:
Extensive experience post qualification working experience in the finance function of top rated financial institution.
Proven ability to act as a financial advisor
Skills:
Problem solving / analytical skills and highly numerate
Negotiation skills
Presentation Skills
Good organizational ability/time management skills
High Level of Initiative and ability to produce high quality output under pressure
Strong leadership and management skills and ability to manage and work with people of diverse backgrounds and interests.
Qualifications:
Strong academic background. University Degree (BA/Bsc); Higher Degree (Msc/MBA)
Professional Qualifications (ACA, ICAN, CPA) is mandatory
