We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Mine Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Quarry Pit design/Layout and extraction sequencing, drilling and blasting, utilizing appropriate mining design software.
• Responsible for assurance on adherence to mining layouts and production plans with respect to Pit design, drilling and blasting.
• Drilling, timing and blasting performance modelling, performance assessment and adjustment according to Standard procedure in consultation with the Quarry Manager
• Responsible to identify deviations and non-conformances in pit drilling and blasting, and to implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Create drill and blast designs for the quarry. Develop a drill and blast management plan
• Coaching and mentoring of Drill and Blast crews to ensure quality of pit development.
• Responsible to oversee and enforce the inspection and correct storage, transport and use of explosives as per regulations. Ensure that Stock Levels are maintained and audited accordingly.
• Provide input into the departmental budget. Manage the budget for the area of responsibility.
• Responsible for the generation of cost saving ideas. Develop a drill and blast cost plan
• Participate in compiling the Strategic Business Plan for the quarry in area of responsibility and quarry production plans.
• Responsible to co-ordinate the preparation of all Zotmann technical documents to ensure that the technical content and cost are within the scope of work applicable to the drill and blast section.
• Provide drill and blast expertise and skills to the operation; advising on drill and blast solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
• Engage internal and external stakeholders on drill and blast related matters, and support the operation on drill and blast related engagement.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Technical Services Function and operation.
• Ensure that all Drill and Blast reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
• Monitor and evaluate performance against established strategies, frameworks, systems and programme, and identify and advise on opportunities for improvement to provide assurance to the Management.
• Participate in a sustainable process to identify, assess and rank drill and blast risk as these relate to the operation, in order to promote a drill and blast and risk-awareness culture; ensure that any potential impact is understood, and facilitate effective decision making, drill and blast risk mitigation.
• Contribute to the identification, analysis and interpretation of drill and blast risks within the operation and contribute to the design and implementing of strategies and systems to mitigate risk and to prevent and reduce loss of the operation's assets.
• Responsible to implement the operational risk management plan in terms of drill and blast to minimize or eliminate operational risks.

• Maintain and improve safe work practices. Maintain a clean and orderly workplace.
• Attend management meetings and submit weekly/monthly reports to the management.
