Job Description

• Work with UX Design and Product Teams to understand requirements, collaborate on solutions and translate them into technically sound front-end architecture and front-end code.
• Act in a technical leadership capacity: research & recommend new and emerging technologies for adoption; design and implement elegant solutions that are performant, scalable, and easy to maintain; 
• Lead and participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and other technical leader activities.
• Participate hands-on in Scrum teams to lead implementation of the architecture.
• Balance technical leadership and acumen with strong business judgment to drive the right decisions about technology choices.
• Participate in the Scrum process and Agile culture in the company.
• Contribute and assist in building and managing a platform & design pattern library that helps keep FlexiSAF products unified and cohesive.
• Lead brainstorming sessions and visual design reviews for UX team
• Effectively present UX team’s prototype concepts in both ad-hoc and formal presentations to diverse audiences ranging from senior leaders to stakeholders, company employees, and customers.
• Stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in user experience, identifying opportunities to and experimenting with applying new interaction and graphic patterns to FlexiSAF platforms and applications
• Give technical guidance and mentor senior and intermediate UX designers.
• Ensure design production is efficient and deliver at the highest quality in accordance with UX’s best practices and processes.
• Provide cross-craft teams with the mentorship, direction, leadership and support necessary to envision effectively and ship specific projects with a user focus
• Establish (and maintain) a high quality bar for shipped design work within the Company.
• Juggle multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations.
• Work on a tight-knit team alongside product managers and engineers, involved in the end-to-end design process from research and ideation to implementation and iteration.
• Influence the user experience of a product used by millions of people as they do critical work (at organizations like NECO, Several Higher Institutions of learning, Primary and Secondary schools etc).
• Know and love our users, understand their pain points, listen to their feedback, stay on top of the trends that fascinate them, be their champion and lead the UX charge in uncovering where they are being under served today and where the biggest opportunities for growth are tomorrow.
• Wireframe, prototype, mock and design web and app UX/UI designs in responsive desktop, tablet and mobile formats that deliver on user value/utility while balancing business goals and needs.
• Reinforce overall visual brand language and user experience consistency by adhering and contributing to our brand guidelines and patterns.
• Serve as a role model for an evolving product culture focused on building connections with our customers, continuous innovation, data- and growth-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Embrace your role as our users’ biggest advocate – drive home the importance of delivering the best experience and seek to spread awareness across the organization of best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in UX design.
• Expert knowledge of user experience design planning processes.
• Expert information architecture, Interaction design, visual design skills on multi-platforms.
• Design experience in web, mobile, tablet, and/or desktop software.
• Experience relying on analytics and data to shape UX decisions.
• Proficiency with design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Axure, and other design software).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships.
• A strong portfolio of innovative design work that demonstrates proficiency in interaction and visual design
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple overlapping deadlines and priorities
• Experience in Sketch, InVision, and/or other industry design and prototyping tools
• Hands-on experience with cutting-edge web technologies (HTML5, SCSS, Typescript, Angular, Webpack, APIs), frontend frameworks (React, Angular), application servers and tooling (npm, Webpack, REST, GraphQL, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of how browsers work including the rendering pipeline, TCP/IP protocols, DOM, HTML5 APIs, CSS, etc.
• Knowledge of JavaScript packages, package managers, bundlers, and their use in building complex interactive experiences.
• Demonstrated experience in utilizing component-driven architecture
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical client-side concepts to members across the team
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) using modern technologies (Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, Jest, etc.))
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver iteratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, inspiring and working collaboratively with all areas of the business to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively, connecting decisions with customer needs and business outcomes
• A solid understanding of branding and executing on designs that support and communicate that value.
• Frameworks (design-thinking, story mapping, storyboards, user journeys, etc.) that enable the team to explore the right problem, build the right things, and build the things right.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
• An amazing portfolio that supports your craft and expertise.Identify and troubleshoot user experience (UX) problems (e.g. usability).
