Justice, Development and Peace Movement (JDPM) of Catholic Diocese of Oyo is a faith- based, non-profit and non-governmental organization which was established to cater for all people, with emphasis on the poor and the vulnerable irrespective of religion, race, age or gender. JDPM promotes holistic human development and strategic actions against ills of the society towards the realization of a just and egalitarian community through animation, conscientization, awareness, training, advocacy, supports, mobilization and networking. The organization is duly registered with the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigeria with registration number: CAC/IT/No 22933.

We are recruiting to fill the position below for our Rural Development Program (RUDEP):

Job Title: Communication Officer

Job Overview / Summary

• Maintain a database of media organizations and contacts within them.
• Manage the company’s or organization’s social media communications.
• Regularly meet with and conduct interviews with media personnel.
• Create and produce internal newsletters for the organization.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with journalists in multiple types of media outlets.
• Act as a spokesperson for the organization.
• Write, edit and distribute various types of content, including material for a website, press releases, marketing material and other types of content that take the message to the public.
• Prepare and manage the organizations communication budget.

Job Requirements

• A Degree in Communications or Journalism.
• 1 - 3 years work experience.
• Knowledge of info graph is mandatory.
• Superb communication and networking skills, along with an aptitude to effectively extract information.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership skills.
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Good networking skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of the Associated Press style guide.
