We believe in promoting and protecting the welfare of vulnerable people from all forms of social, Economic and emotional discrimination through Peace Building, Education, Protection, health care, advocacy and sensitization and awareness Programs.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Peace Building Coordinator
Locations: Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) States

Role Purpose
Overall purpose of the Role:
The Peacebuilding Coordinator will be responsible for technical standards, guidelines, training, strategy development and conflict analyses supporting the Peacebuilding component of GSF - which delivers activities focused on conflict prevention and conflict sensitivity outcomes (with a particular focus on youth).
The Peacebuilding Coordinator will be responsible for drafting quality proposal and input to peacebuilding project reports, conflict analyses and supporting the design of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) processes to ensure an impact- driven response across the peacebuilding programme.
He/She will also act as the thematic lead for all peacebuilding activities under GSF’s Five years Strategy plan and partnership.
The Peacebuilding Coordinator will liaise with GSF’s Program Manager and Technical Coordinators to ensure consistent standards are applied across social cohesion activities, with a focus on ensuring conflict sensitivity is mainstreamed across the GSF programme.
He/She will also prepare funding proposals to secure funding to the Units, and represent GSF Peacebuilding programming to donors and other external stakeholders
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
Develop GSF’s internal programme and fundraising strategies for Peacebuilding programming in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States
Work with GSF Program Manager to identify and develop technical approaches for integrated programming, particularly in the areas of Protection and Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL).
Programme Coordination & Development:
Coordinate the production of at least two (2) conflict analysis reports supporting conflict- sensitive programming across GSF project location in the BAY States. The reports will cover State-level conflict dynamics, or dynamics covering a cluster of states in GSF project locations.
Coordinate other coordinators to review meetings with livelihood Technical Coordinator, and program manager to ensure report programming recommendations are followed, and that staff have the support they require to take action on findings.
Responsible for coordination to leads on context-specific conflict management approaches, including conflict sensitivity across multi-sector programming
Development of guidelines, tools and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Peacebuilding teams and activities.
In collaboration with the GSF MEAL Manager, responsible for designing all MEAL processes relating to Peacebuilding across the GSF programme, including coordination across departments and sectors to ensure that learning is used to adapt future programming.
Development and monitoring of a programme-wide Peacebuilding MEAL Plan, including for all peacebuilding activities conducted by GSF
Work closely with GSF Protection, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Technical Coordinators to identify opportunities for complementary or integrated programming, including identification of specific funding opportunities to support cross-sector approaches
Act as the focal point for all Peacebuilding programme liaisons with GSF Units and external partners, to facilitate multi-sectoral support to GSF’s beneficiaries.
Design and deliver training of trainers (ToT) sessions on new programme concepts and methodologies to the programme’s Project Managers and Team Leaders
Provide quality assurance and regular input to training packages and approaches, as delivered by the Project Managers
Provide GSF programme-wide guidelines on conflict sensitivity, and provide training where required to GSF Technical Coordinators and PM.
Fundraising:
In collaboration with Program Manager and Executive Director contribute to the sustainable management of programme growth and development, ensuring that existing capacities are considered for future strategic growth.
Together with the program manager identify opportunities for new projects and funding.
Develop, or contribute to the development of funding proposals
Review and provide input to all relevant GSF project designs and proposals, to ensure conflict-sensitive approaches are well-developed and communicated.
External Representation & Advocacy:
Strengthen GSF’s contacts and coordination with relevant government departments, UN agencies, NGOs, CSOs at the national on issues relating to conflict management
Share GSF learning concerning peacebuilding and conflict sensitivity, including through presentations to the UN Cluster system
Provide input to newsletter, social media and donor narrative reports.
About You
A minimum of 3 years of working experience providing technical guidance and training within the peacebuilding, conflict management or similar sectors
Extensive understanding of working on issues related to conflict management, conflict sensitivity, community-based approaches, awareness-raising, and development of policy recommendations
Minimum 2 years of project management experience at the programme implementation level
Demonstrated experience ensuring conflict-sensitive programming at the programme implementation level
Fluency in verbal and written English
The ability to translate develop realistic strategic plans that shape programming
Experience coordinating across departments and sectors at field and country office levels.
Experience designing and delivering training of trainers (ToT) sessions
Experience designing and/or managing the delivery of MEAL plans
Successful experience with fundraising
Experience with the liaison with donors and Government authorities
Experience in working in complex and politically-sensitive contexts
A team player - able to demonstrate a constructive, cooperative and problem-solving approach
Ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment
