Job Title: Senior Laboratory Analyst(M/F)
Location: Ogun
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring that the Laboratory is operating with the latest industry and management quality standards.
To carry out/ provide effective supervision of Laboratory Testing activities. This is to ensure analysis is carried out to a high degree of accuracy and quality in conformance with established methods, instructions and quality standards on a wide range of commodities, or materials as specified in the laboratories capability documents in strict accordance with relevant Approved In-House controlled test methods.
Perform Analytical Method validation and Equipment Verification in line with ISO 17025: 2017 Standard.
Coordinate daily workloads for laboratory personnel, interface with clients and organize necessary coverage outside normal working hours.
To assist the Laboratory Manager in identifying local management, retention, qualification, training & welfare needs of laboratory employees.
To carry out effective Laboratory Supervision activities within the Laboratory as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
To produce final Certificates/Reports from either manual or computerised systems in accordance with the clients instructions and company published guidelines.
To assist Laboratory personnel with the setting up of new methods and equipment in accordance with the necessary standard.
To update and maintain the Laboratory capabilities.
To regularly check for updates of methods & standards and distribute the information to the appropriate Laboratory staff whilst maintaining the relevant records and certified reference materials.
To verify and provide applicable training on new verified test methods.
To coordinate proficiency schemes as well as investigate & provide a monthly report to the Laboratory Manager about the proficiency and quality control data
To identify deviations from the management system, industry and quality standards.
To initiate and communicate with Laboratory Manager the actions to prevent or minimise such deviations.
To liaise with the Laboratory Manager in initiating and record actions regarding incidences of non-conforming products; triggered within the management system, customer complaints and quality incidents.
To develop, implement and record any corrective action triggered from the investigations of customer complaints and Quality Incidents (to be replaced with one above).
To monitor the effectiveness of any corrective and preventive actions and take appropriate action in conjunction with managers.
To provide technical feedback in response to customer queries.
To ensure that the Laboratory is calibrating and verifying all the Laboratory equipment.
To work with the Laboratory analysts to prepare and implement secondary standards.
To regulate and monitor trends in statistical quality control charts
To assist the Laboratory manager when internal / external audits are being conducted).
To be responsible for the maintenance and continual improvement of the Business Management system that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 International Standards.
To assist in developing and conducting employee Continuous Quality Improvement training and assessment, including accurate theoretical and practical application on the job.
Be aware of the duties and responsibilities when acting as a Deputy.
To perform any other duties as reasonably requested by your Superiors.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree/HND in Chemistry, Pure & Applied Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
Minimum of 4 years Analytical Laboratory Testing Experience in a research/Food/Pharmaceutical/FMCG Laboratory.
Competence in the operation of HPLC, LCMSMS, GCMSMS, ICP, IC etc., will be an added advantage.
Competencies & Skills:
Excellent computer skills.
Basic understanding of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Understanding of AOAC and ISO Methods

Ability to work under pressure within time limits by determining priorities and organizing work accordingly.
