Posted on Mon 07th Nov, 2022 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

Kibo is an online university that offers STEM degrees to African students, starting with computer science.  We’re on a mission to educate the next billion by using technology to deliver affordable and high-quality learning at scale.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty Member, Curriculum Design

Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time

What You’ll Do

  • We are hiring adjunct faculty members to design course curriculum for the degree. This is a part-time, non-tenure track, curriculum design faculty position with no requirements of research. In this role, you will plan lessons, write exercises, and build projects for students to complete. Faculty will work closely with our core academic team, led by Keno (CAO) and Rob (CS Curriculum).

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop the curriculum to give learners a strong theoretical and practical foundation
  • Curate and create learning materials, contribute to written materials, videos, exercises, and assessments, and help
  • Collaborate with instructional faculty to monitor/assess curriculum effectiveness, and make improvements
  • Note: this appointment is for curriculum design only, but we welcome applicants who are also interested in being course instructors in addition to curriculum designers.

Courses Available

  • Kibo's computer science curriculum integrates computer science theory, software development practice, and essential non-technical skills. You can explore the courses here.
  • We are currently seeking Adjunct Faculty to design the following courses which will be offered in Term 2 (Jan - March 2023) and Term 3 (April - June 2023) of our first year program.
  • Web Application Development
  • Front End Web Development
  • Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Team Software Project
  • Before applying, please review the course descriptions here (filter for Year 1 courses). When you apply, you will be able to indicate which courses you are interested in designing.

Who You Are

  • Mission-aligned, and excited by Kibo’s mission and learning principles
  • A subject matter expert who loves teaching: you have the ability and desire to design and teach introductory courses in programming and web development
  • Lifelong-learner: you stay up-to-date with the latest technical innovations and desire to equip learners with modern tools and knowledge. You’re committed to improving your teaching practice.
  • Effective collaborator: you’re eager to build with other instructors. Faculty at Kibo teach from common curricula and contribute to shared knowledge to help us scale our reach and quality.
  • Outcomes focused: you have evidence of teaching effectiveness, and a track record of using data to improve instruction.
  • Excellent written communicator: As a remote-first, globally distributed startup, we spend a lot of time communicating in writing and documenting our processes. Clear, structured, and well-organized writing is a must.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related area and 3+ years of industry experience
  • Evidence of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related area
  • Curriculum or technical writing experience
