Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF)is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 91613). Existing since October 2016, AHSF focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in North East Nigeria. AHSF operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its program principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population or increases vulnerability of population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

Job Title: Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

Job Description
They serve as counsellors, helping poor patients overcome the barriers that prevent them from seeking vital healthcare.
They act as healthcare educators, providing vital education about the healthcare options that are available.
They keep a lookout for people who show signs of developing a serious condition.
Promotion of health care access, patient engagement, and outcomes.
They supervise the treatment of patients living with terminal illness
Health promotion and disease prevention
Provision of therapeutic care for minor ailments
Identification of women in labour and serving as birth companions
Monitoring labour and conducting deliveries
Assessment for and prevention of postpartum haemorrhage
Assessment of postpartum sepsis in the early and late postpartum period
Promotion of breast feeding
Immediate care of the newborn
Health promotion and disease prevention
Identification of neonates with poor health status
Providing short-acting contraceptives
Providing long-acting reversible contraception
Collection of health data and health planning
Patient tracking and community mobilization
Referrals of all cases beyond their skills and competencies.
Profile, Skills and Experience
Education:
Certified Board Exams for Both JCHEW & SCHEW - Essential.
Graduate of School of Health Technology (CHEW)
Experience:
2 years and or field experiences
Others:
Confidentiality, Team Player, ability to work with little or no supervision, people management and Report Writing.
Additional Skills: Ability to work in low resource field environments.
Language Skills: Fluent in English (Speaking, Reading, Writing), Kanuri and Hausa are added advantage
Personal Skills: Ability to work under tight deadline team-work, negotiation skills and flexible working hours.
