Job Title: Medical Activity Manager / Medco Support
Location: Abuja
Main Purpose
Defining, coordinating and monitoring the medical activities under his/her responsibility according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients as well as MSFF staff and also supporting the Medical Coordinator / Deputy Medical Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities including administrative tasks related to the coordination of work
Accountabilities
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the medical activities (VVF, Maternity, Pediatric SGBV, etc.), according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.
Participating in the definition of annual planning and budget for the project and in the follow up of the programs / project. Supervising and ensuring that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting to the technical referent any problem arising in the service
Checking all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up (individual card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, transfers ...) are carried out correctly and according to MSF procedures.
Ensuring an efficient pharmacy management and monitoring the rational use of them. In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs. Preparing the medical orders needed to implement the medical activities under his/her responsibility, and identifying and reporting to the line manager, non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport, etc.)
Oversight of National Staff Health responsibilities with support from DepMedco and Medco
Coordinating and monitoring the daily working plan of the team under his/her responsibility (absent personnel, vacations, tracking leaves ...). Participation in shifts and replaces a doctor, if necessary
Planning and supervising, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to improve staff capabilities and to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
Participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc.).
Participating in Emergency preparedness and interventions
Assisting in data collection, verification of statistics and support to the fields monitoring
Performing the national epidemiological follow-up (EoC, health alert) and in the states where we intervene (weekly / monthly summary) or follow up.
Getting the update of National Policies, National Protocols and Information Circulation
Compilating the monthly, quarterly and mid-year and annual medical reports
Collaborate in the development of a network contact with the specialized services of epidemiology surveillance
In collaboration with the state Epidemiologist and state DNSO monitor all the prone disease along the state that has been follow by MSF by weekly basis and report to the Medical coordinator.
In support of the medical coordinator, represent MSF in meetings with different stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Degree in Medicine (Medical Doctor) or Paramedical Degree.
Desirable specialization or training in Tropical Medicine or related studies.
Relevant Postgraduate qualification or master’s in health management is a plus
Experience:
2 years working experience related to the diploma/degree and previous experience in MSF in the field
Experience in Tropical medicineor public health
Experience in Medical emergency response management and working with other NGOs
Competences/Skills:

Excellent communication skills.
Leadership, teamwork and cooperation
Ability to work independently and to work under stress and in difficult circumstances.
Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary, cross-cultural and international team.
