Western Delta University, Oghara is a Private Institution licenced by the Federal Government in May, 2007. The University which commenced its Academic activities in March, 2008, has recorded remarkable achievements in the areas of academic excellence and production of quality graduates. The University operates a policy of zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice, harassment of any kind and unwholesome practices. The University expects its staff and students to demonstrate the highest moral and ethical standards.

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Oghara, Delta

The Position

• The Bursar is a Principal Officer and is the Chief Financial Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
• By virtue of his position, the Bursar should be able to coordinate the development and upgrading of the University's strategic plans and ensure the development and update of the University's financial management plans.
• The Bursar shall also be able to undertake the preparation of periodic management reports and accounts and Annual Financial Statements, including Consolidation, where necessary.
• He/She shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all assets and liabilities held by the University, and be able to monitor monthly income and expenditure, Preparation of Payrolls and Collection of School Fees.
• The Bursar shall provide the University Management with appropriate advice on all the institutions financial transactions.

The Person:

• The applicant must be a person of impeccable character and must possess drive, initiative and foresight. He/She must be of pleasant disposition with sound leadership qualities and must be of good physical and mental health.

Qualifications

• The applicant must possess a good honours degree with a minimum of second class in the Accounting or its equivalent in Accounting or related discipline.
• Possession of a higher degree is an added advantage.
• He/She must be a qualified member of any professional body such as ICAN, ACCA.
• He/She must be highly proficient in ICT and in the use of Accounting Softwares.

Experience:

• The applicant must possess a minimum of 18 years post qualification experience, 10 of which must have been acquired within the University System.
• In any case, a suitable applicant must have attained not less than the status of a Deputy Bursar as at the time of applying.

The salary and other benefits attached to this position is as approved by the Governing Council of the University.
