Job Title: Engineering Manager (Platform Services)

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Responsibilities

• Develop, mentor, and lead a diverse team of high-performing engineers.
• Participate in features development, code reviews, architecture discussions and guiding the team towards the best path forward.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, performant, well tested code.
• Lead the team to execute towards goals, collaborating in close partnership with Product and Design
• Have a strong sense of ownership and cultivate a strong sense of ownership and accountability within the team
• Work in an Agile Scrum development environment
• Make pragmatic data-driven decisions.
• Contribute to product and technology roadmap.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Java development using Java Spring boot.
• Experience in working in a CI/CD development environment.
• Experience running Scrum ceremonies.
• High EQ, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experienced people focused technical leader.
• Experience with NodeJS, Kafka, Java, and SQL
• Experience with Git and the Atlassian suite of tools
• Experience with A/B testing and building consumer products is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and coach team through incident management.
• Monitor and improve upon the performance of solutions.
• Experience with domain driven design, event driven architecture and microservices.
• Goal oriented engineer with a product and customer focus
• Full stack software development experience with SQL, .Net, React, and GraphQL
• Experience with Git and the Atlassian suite of tools
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot production issues.
• Curious and creative problem solver
• Excellent collaborator with proven experience working in a cross-function team including Product Management, Design, and business stakeholders.
• Self-starter mindset who takes the initiative to work independently, while also keeping team members in the loop
• Knowledge of gRPC services and Protobuf is an advantage.
