Job Purpose
The key purpose of this role is to provide Technical Leadership and support to the plant in terms of Maintenance and to enable the implementation of business strategies,
The aim is to leverage equipment, productivity, reliability and maintainability, thereby enabling high plant availability and utilization at a lower cost.
This is done through the VPO maintenance pillar and associated GOP's.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities
Manage maintenance Lead the implementation and support the development of the maintenance strategy and plan for the entire brewery, ensuring adherence to COT principles.
Liaise with Zone around maintenance, and take part in regional and central maintenance MDT's
Through the training controller, ensure development of required maintenance competencies within the engineering team.
Provide specialist maintenance guidance and advice to engineering and production on maintenance management.
Ensure reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) techniques are incorporated into all capital projects.
Perform routine and specific maintenance assessments and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
Address problems with maintenance program and lead the implementation of corrective action.
Manage required maintenance systems and ensure functional and data integrity of information.
Maintenance System Management Where necessary, lead and take part in the commissioning of new maintenance systems, or changes to the current systems.
Provide training, coaching and mentoring to users of maintenance systems and assist in problem solving.
Ensure, through the training controller, system users have the appropriate training and competencies to utilize the system.
Ensure the functional and data integrity of the maintenance system and identify and resolve problems.
Conduct routine assessments of the system, and report finding to key stakeholders.
Where assessments highlight problems, the maintenance specialist must ensure resolution.
Condition Monitoring Manage and co-ordinate overall condition monitoring activities, ensuring that the relevant competencies are developed within the engineering pool.
Manage condition monitoring systems and ensure that functional and data integrity is maintained.
Co-ordinate and manage any outsourced condition monitoring activities and verify that work carried out is in accordance with VPO practices.
Monitor, assess and evaluate condition monitoring techniques, and where required introduce new techniques.
Conduct training needs analysis, and where condition-monitoring training is required, through the training controller, ensure this is provided. Interpret data collected from condition monitoring and communicate finding and recommendations to the key stakeholders.
Problem Solving Where problems have occurred during routine activities, apply the correct problems solving approach to resolve.
Where required calls in additional resources to assist in problems solving or escalate to the engineering controller for direction.
Take part, as a functional specialist, in FFA's.
