Purpose of Job
To assist the Permanent Representative, in developing policy and strategy to Enhance the Economic and Commercial Cooperation Between China and Africa.
Main Functions
Provide support in the preparation and Implement the programmes developed out of the office’s strategic plan
Ensure effective coordination and implementation at various levels
Liaise with Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and other stakeholders including on relevant matters
Prepare and develop reports, budget and work programmes related to the functioning of the Division
Provide support to develop resource mobilization strategy with stakeholders coordination
Manage and supervise employees under his/her supervision with regard to organization and performance evaluation.
Conduct complex analysis and generate accurate reports in a timely manner for the Division and AU’s internal use.
Liaise with the various Departments/Units of the Commission for coordination and alignment purposes
Prepare budgets for the Division in accordance with relevant frameworks. Support the promotion of the activities of the Division including preparing leaflets, guidelines and fact sheets as may be required.
Actively contribute in the development of strategies, policies, programmes and plans
Specific Responsibilities
Provide technical support China-AU Economic and Commercial Cooperation
Assist the Permanent Representatives strengthening in China-Africa Economic and Commercial Cooperation
Liaise with the various Departments/Units of the Commission and other stakeholders for coordination purposes.
Design and develop databases for collecting and capturing policy data
Support the promotion of the activities of the permanent Mission including preparing leaflets, guidelines and fact sheets.
Assist in the development of a resource mobilization strategy
Generate and compile accurate reports in a timely manner for the mission and AU’s internal and external use
Analyse and interpret data concerning given policy and programs systems and transactions
Provide insights into the data trends to enable management to take informed decisions
Provides support to his/her supervisor in the preparation and Implement the programmes developed out of the Cabinet’s strategic plan
Prepares and develops reports, budgets and work programmes related to the functioning of the mission
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
Master’s Degree in Economics, Development studies, Social Sciences with 7 years or relevant work experience out of which 3 years should be at supervisory level OR Bachelor’s degree in above area with 10 years of relevant work experience out of which 3 years should be at supervisory level
Working experience or knowledge in policy analysis, research and/or statistics or policy formulation, implementation, review and advocacy.

Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be made on a regular term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be considered as a probationary period.
Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

Languages:

Remuneration
Indicative basic salary of US$ 37,453.00 (P3 Step1) per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), a Housing allowance of US$ 22,932.00 (per annum), and education allowance (100% of tuition and other education-related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$ 10,000.00 per child per annum), for internationally recruited staff and a maximum of $3,300 per child per annum for locally recruited staff.
