Electrical Engineer at Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc

BEDC is responsible for retail distribution of electricity in Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States with geographical coverage of 55,770 square kilometers . The Company operates from twenty five business districts with approximately 350 offices located across the four states with about 13 million people and about million households.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Benin City, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time

General Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on all electrical equipment and employs electrical tools to carry out the jobs
• Solving major equipment problems and checking on all equipment.
• Design and implement complex industrial, commercial, and domestic electrical systems.

Activities:

• Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes.
• Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
• Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
• Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps.
• Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
• Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
• Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
• Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
• Supervising or training project team members.
• Estimating material, labour, or construction costs for budget preparation.
• Maintaining electrical equipment.
• Working with a variety of technicians
• Any other duties as may be assigned to you by your manager.

• Company policies and procedures are to be correctly and fully applied
• Ensure safety standards and norms are respected
• Ensure all electrical equipment records are kept well daily
• Ensure faults are reported promptly and repairs are carried out

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 2 - 3 years of extensive hands-on experience
• Licensed as a professional engineer.

Experience:

• Experience in the electricity or energy sector
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical installations and equipment.
• Experience in using or a desire to learn the required software.
• Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering.
• Proficient in design and calculation software.

Skills:

• A great understanding of cybersecurity trends.
