Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) is respinsible for retail distribution of electricity in Delta, Edo, Ekiti and ondo states with geographical coverage of 55,770 square kilometers. The company operates from twenty five (25) business districts with approximately 350 offices located across the four (4) states with about 13 million people and about 4 million households.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Company Electrician

General Responsibilities

• This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in commercial and residential properties.
• Ensure that all electrical projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Activities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial and residential properties of BEDC
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues and make recommendations for repairs or replacement
• Install and repair electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components
• Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Communicate with clients to understand their electrical needs and provide estimates for services
• Collaborate with other team members, such as plumbers and carpenters, to complete complex projects
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations when working on job sites
• Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Stay up-to-date with the latest electrical technologies and techniques
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Accountabilities

• Safe electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, electrical outlets, and other electrical components.
• Identify the root cause of the problem and make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
• All projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
• Explain the scope of work and provide accurate pricing for the services required.
• Safety of staff and occupants of all company properties.
• Documentation of completed work and detailed records of any issues encountered and resolved during the job.
• Adaptation to new technologies and methods as they become available

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Qualifications:

• Minimum of Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience
• Valid electrician license is an added advantage.

Experience:

• Good electrical installation and troubleshooting skills with at least four years of experience.

Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building codes
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy equipement.
