Job Title: Cleaner

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Reporting to: Head of the Unit

Job Brief

• The School Cleaner is responsible for ensuring that the school is kept clean and well-maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all surfaces
• Empty waste and recycling bins and dispose of trash and recycling appropriately
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors
• Restock restrooms with necessary supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Clean and maintain floors, including stripping, waxing, and buffing as necessary
• Keep all cleaning equipment and supplies organized and in good working condition
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate staff member
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment
• Assist with set up and cleanup for school events as needed.

Key Performance Indicators
The Key Performance Indicator for the cleaner include:

• Cleaning Time: This KPI measures the amount of time it takes for the cleaner to complete their cleaning tasks. It is important to ensure that the cleaner is completing their work within the expected time-frame.
• Cleaning Quality: This KPI measures the effectiveness of the cleaner's work, and how well they are able to clean the school. This could be measured by inspecting the cleanliness of the school after the cleaner has completed their work.
• Attendance and Punctuality: This KPI measures the attendance and punctuality of the cleaner. It is important that the cleaner shows up on time and completes their work as scheduled.
• Customer Satisfaction: This KPI measures the satisfaction of the school staff and students with the cleaning services provided. This could be measured through feedback forms or surveys.
• Supplies Management: This KPI measures the ability of the cleaner to manage cleaning supplies and equipment. It is important to ensure that the cleaner is using supplies and equipment effectively and not wasting resources.
• Health and Safety: This KPI measures the compliance of the cleaner with health and safety regulations. It is important that the cleaner follows proper procedures to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
• Cost Management: This KPI measures the ability of the cleaner to manage cleaning costs. It is important to ensure that the cleaner is not overspending on supplies or equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE certificate with at least 3 years experience.
• Experience of undertaking a range of cleaning duties Vacuuming Dusting Mopping Scrubbing
• Buffing Disposing of waste Replenishing consumables
• Willingness to clean any area of the school as requested by the supervisor.
• Willingness to take personal responsibility for standard of work carried out.
• Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities offered by the school, to further knowledge
• Willingness to maintain confidentiality on all school matters
• Will need to be able to manage some heavy lifting
• Ability to work in an organized and methodical manner
• Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise
