Job Title: Energy Legal and Regulatory Expert

Location: Abuja

Person Specification
The successful profile will include much of the below:

• Master's Degree, with demonstrated interest and experience in power sector regulations;
• Minimum of 12 years of regulatory experience in compliance and finance in the power sector specifically on renewable energy projects
• Some experience working within the Power Sector in Nigeria is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to manage relations with development partners, to work under pressure and handle politically sensitive issues
• High level of energy, initiative, and flexibility in quickly adjusting to changing work program requirements.
• Demonstrated ability in team management and collaboration.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple changing and competing priorities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Analytical skills:

• Use of qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect, evaluate, and interpret data.

Critical-thinking skills:

• The ability to examine and process available information and draw logical conclusions from findings.

Intellectual curiosity:

• Continually explore new ideas and information to make new and appropriate recommendations.
• Stay current on regulatory issues but more importantly, keep up to date on various policy issues within the energy industry.
• In addition, research potential changes in rules, regulations, and legislation at the state and federal levels and provide information and recommendations on task orders to assist in legal and regulatory issues.

Communication skills:

• Ability to clearly explain policies, policy impacts, and recommendations in both spoken and written formats to many different audiences, including colleagues, external stakeholders, team members and policy makers.
• Knowledge of energy markets especially generation, transmission, and distribution.
