Job Title: Maintenance Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
Stated below are the specific duties expected to be performed by the Maintenance Officer of the school amongst other duties that may be so assigned from time to time:

• Ensure that the power generating sets of the school is kept in efficient working condition at all times. Ensure all daily checks are carried out at the day before the generators are put into use. The generators must be test run every morning to ascertain their working condition. It is a major performance measurement index for you to avoid emergencies on the generators.
• Maintain a reasonable fuel level for the generators and ensure stock is promptly replenished to avoid “No Diesel” situations. Work closely with the Admin Officer in this regards.
• Ensure regular preventive maintenance checks are carried out on the generators to avoid sudden breakdowns. Identified faults must be promptly fixed.
• Verify all bills submitted by the maintenance contractors independently and ensure that they comply with their quotes. All quoted materials must be sighted and observed to be fixed.
• Ensure all vehicles in the fleet of the school are kept in top working condition. Ensure all reported faults are promptly fixed without disrupting the transportation services of the school.
• Ensure preventive maintenance checks on vehicles are promptly carried out at the designated service centre. Maintain record of service visits and cost.
• Ensure that all electrical and mechanical maintenance works on the premises are efficiently handled. All lights within and outside the buildings and air conditioners must be in top working condition.
• Records and files of all maintenance issues and spending must be accurate and complete.
• Regularly inspect the vehicles and promptly identify lost tools and vehicle parts. Keep track of all damages to the vehicles. Efficient record of the “Care and Responsibility”of drivers must be maintained to assist in assessing the drivers.
• Maintain an efficient level of diesel and ensure prompt replenishment. There MUST not be a stock-out situation. Purchases must be prudent and from reliable sources only.
• Maintain a cordial relationship with the suppliers of fuel for the school’s buses. The fuelling arrangement must be efficiently administered to prevent disruption of the school’s transportation services.
• All classroom and office furniture must be in good working order with all necessary repairs promptly handled.
• Ensure that there is water on the premises at all times.
• Ensure that repairs where necessary must be prompt and not allowed to affect the smooth running of the school.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess an OND or Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years experience.
