We are looking to hire a Head of Engineering who will be responsible for designing, building, improving, or maintaining our products and systems, but you will also manage a team (or teams) of engineers, growing and empowering them to accomplish great things, and ensuring that best practices, standards, and processes are adhered to.
The Head of Engineering is responsible for delivering products and platforms, and leading technological initiatives for building competitive advantages within the same.
We expect that this role will direct strategic technology capability investment to build future company growth engines and competitive advantage including attracting and growing top engineering talent in the region and to sustain learning and knowledge sharing culture in the organisation.
Responsibilities
Be responsible for leading and growing the Engineering team and will be a pivotal member of the product delivery team.
Be responsible for driving technical innovation, processes and best practices required to deliver the platform at scale.
Work closely with the Head of Product and our CTO to define technical and product roadmaps and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, secure software.
Work with engineers and non-engineers across the company to develop and iterate at scale.
Be a hands-on manager, responsible for inspiring, managing and growing a world class engineering team, building a culture of trust and collaboration between engineers and teams across multiple offices and time zones.
Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage.
Responsible for driving the team’s career development, managing engineer's performance, and delivering proper mentorship and coaching to the team.
Prepare lifecycle for different products inclusive of research, development, design, evaluation, testing along with delivery to product management.
Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software.
Help the development team to build high quality products. Make all developers aware what are the quality standards in organisation, what value they bring in and encourage them to make the standards even better.
Be ready to get your hands dirty with actual coding as and when needed, we expect you to spend 40% time doing hands-on technical work and test 60% on management activities.
Qualification and Experience
B.Sc / BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field MSc will be preferred
A minimum of 7 years proven experience as Head of IT, particularly in an international organisation
A minimum of 7 years hands on technical experience and expertise.
Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure.
Exemplary experience in designing/developing financial technology products and planning IT implementation.
Detailed understanding of software methodologies and processes including Agile and Kanban.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Startup experience preferably in Financial Technology.
Preferable candidate from the banking and finance sector.
Experience in scaling up startup teams and running teams that have grown globally.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Large team management experience.
Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to work with product teams in defining tasks and creating roadmaps.
Ability to foster and to create positive engineering cultures.
