Job Description

• We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a part-time ad hoc Data Engineer and Trainer.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering data engineering training programs to our learners, as well as delivering data projects when needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality training programs on data engineering using industry-standard tools and techniques.
• Create engaging learning materials and hands-on exercises.
• Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback to help them improve their skills.
• Collaborate with other trainers and instructors to continuously improve the training program.
• Work on data engineering projects from design to delivery of scalable and performant data pipelines and systems
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and develop customized solutions that meet their requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using a variety of tools and technologies, such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, and Amazon Redshift.
• Implement data integration and transformation processes to ensure data quality and consistency.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and systems to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Work collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a data engineer or a software engineer with a strong focus on data processing and data pipelines
• Experience in developing and delivering training programs on data engineering and data pipelines
• Experience working on data engineering projects for clients in a consulting or agency environment
• Hands-on experience with SQL database design
• Proficiency in using a variety of industry-standard data engineering tools and technologies, such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, and Amazon Redshift
• Strong experience with cloud-based data storage and processing technologies, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience in working with big data platforms such as Hadoop and Spark is a plus
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and data processing architectures
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Passion for teaching and mentoring students
