The creation, collection, and dissemination of knowledge and learning is fundamental to the work of the Jhpiego consortium of projects in Nigeria and considered among its foremost assets.
To succeed in the implementation of its mandate to promote sustainable development, national and state participation as well as integration through (a) policy dialogue; (b) routine work; and (c) technical and research-based information, knowledge management and learning needs should be a key priority.
Knowledge/Information Management/Learning is critical, both within the projects in Jhpiego and externally, among staff and in an active exchange with implementation States and other partners. Since the inception of the organization, many useful practices have been developed to generate, document and share knowledge created with a view to preserving it as the institutional memory.
Thus far, the organization has a proactive global website that serves as a coherent framework and a depository of knowledge on the strategies, implementation and utilization of knowledge which over the years has informed decision-making and program planning.
The inclusion of the Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) Projects is a laudable initiative by USAID and as the Jhpiego Portfolio in Nigeria expands, it is imperative that an expanded and wholistic KM working system is put in place to foster cooperation, integration, teamwork and support cutting across all Jhpiego – Nigeria projects while concomitant activities are developed and carried out
Jhpiego Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen its KM practices is also aligned to the spirit and visions of the various projects which has, as always, emphasized the importance of excellence, continued effective and efficient use of cost-effective ways of harmonizing procedures, practices and improving communication, coordination and cooperation.
In conducting a KM/Learning training, the team will be drawing on the good practices from the Jhpiego systems and beyond.
