Leverage Seeds Limited is a leading indigenous seed company dedicated to supporting farmers in maximizing their profit through the provision of genetically pure seeds of improved crop varieties, affordable fertilizers, and agrochemicals. We also guide farmers on Good Agronomic Practices for a bumper harvest. As part of our expansion plans, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our team and contribute to the success of our agricultural enterprise.

Job Summary

• As the Legal Counsel at Leverage Seeds Limited, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive legal support and guidance to our company. You will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and safeguarding the company's interests.
• The ideal candidate will possess excellent legal knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including contracts, agreements, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and litigation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations affecting the agricultural industry.
• Collaborate with internal departments to assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Manage and oversee external legal counsel when necessary, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective handling of legal matters.
• Advise management on legal implications and potential risks associated with business decisions and initiatives.
• Monitor and assess ongoing legal cases, ensuring timely responses and appropriate actions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized institution. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Legal Counsel or similar role, preferably in the agriculture or agribusiness sector.
• Sound knowledge of Nigerian laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to the agricultural industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to complex business situations.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Membership in the Nigerian Bar Association.
