Creative Scriptwriter - Hausa Radio Drama at Population Media Center Nigeria

Population Media Center (PMC) Nigeria is a non-governmental organization duly registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2006. We use social behavior change communication (SBCC) to change lives in a positive way through a wide range of our intervention programs which mainly focus on health, gender-based violence, gender equality, education and environment. Our corporate head office is in Abuja. However, we are starting a new project in Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa States from May 2023.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Creative Scriptwriter - Hausa Radio Drama

Location: Kano
Employment Type: Full-time

Qualifications

• B.A Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job (English, Creative Writing, Journalism or Communications).

Requirements:

• Eligible candidates must be able to speak and write Hausa Language fluently and also have a good understanding and command of cultural norms.
• A background in literary studies or creative drama and theatre arts is an advantage.

Other Requirements:

• Highly motivated in writing scripts for radio serial dramas, jingles, talk shows and television dramas.
• He/She must be incredibly talented in creating characters, crafting dialogue and writing an engaging plots;
• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in script writing and publishing.
• Ability to write in Hausa Language and other languages is an added advantage.
• Creative problem solving and excellent communication skills.
• Flexibility & time management: ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and take responsibility for deadlines.
• Ability to communicate his/her ideas effectively. Conducting informal research on current events, cultural norms and healthy lifestyle issues through interactions with target program area, expert advice and consultation with appropriate research and documentation
• Develop plot/ideas for the serial/production: design the plot of the radio serial drama and provides written episodes summaries.
• Write and deliver synopsis, story/episode breakdown for the serial writing informative and entertaining stories, plotting script and developing characters consistent with the established moral framework.
• Flesh out characters for the serial production
• Write and deliver script within designated timeline for the production.
