We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Upholsterer

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

• Provide strategic guidance on upholstery to the management and company in whole.
• Actualize the company’s objective by designing, interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils that aligns all the components of the organization to the company’s vision.
• Accurate upholstery preparation, installing foam, batting to the furniture framework, supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in padding, covering, trimming, or renovating upholstered articles, like furniture, or sofa sets, etc.
• To observe workers performing duties and interprets drawings, sketches, and work orders for workers based on knowledge of upholstery methods, style, design of articles and other upholstery positions within the company.

Responsibilities

• Make and repair furniture with soft, padded textile covering features, such as armchairs, sofas and bedheads.
• Choosing, measuring, cutting, fitting and sewing fabric and leather materials.
• Upholsterers work on household furnishings.
• Cover furniture such as sofas and chairs, as well as other surfaces, with fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials.
• Select the correct materials for the job and upholster items according to the design specifications.
• Meeting with clients and design agents to discuss upholstery ideas.
• Interpreting design order and crating upholstery materials.
• Selecting and recommending upholstery materials.
• Conducting quality checks on completed orders.
• Inspect wooden frame work for defects and recommends necessary repair works.
• Work to restore and refurbish items such as couches, chairs, and seats.
• Adding and removing springs, padding, webbing and coverings.
• Measuring, cutting and trimming materials.
• Covering furniture with padding, webbing and materials.
• Attaching trims, buttons and cushions.
• Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils.
• Dismantling furniture for upholstery preparation.
• Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils.
• Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.
• Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.
• Stitching, gluing, nailing fabric into place and smoothing out imperfections.
• Conducting quality checks on completed orders.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in padding, covering, trimming, or renovating upholstered articles, like furniture, or sofa sets.
• Observe workers performing duties and interprets drawings, sketches, and work orders for workers based on knowledge of upholstery methods, style, and design of articles.
• Using power and hand tools, apply and install battling, foam, poly-filter and cut fabric to wood framework in the assembly of hand-crafted furniture.
• Discuss complications or assembly line slow-downs with supervisors and brainstorm solution for increased productivity.
• Ability to improvise during production.
• Reviews production schedules and computes amounts of padding, fabric, and supplies necessary to achieve production.
• Meeting deadlines and delivering quality output
• Fulfilling tasks set out by Project Manager.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Sciences, Technology, or other related fields and Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
• Certification in upholstery or other related field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years proven upholstery experience.
• Advanced computer literacy especially with the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Social media, Email and Google sheet.
• Multitasking skills.
• Team coordination and management skills.
