Job Description
The Business Transformation Africa Lead will be responsible for leading all efforts within Sun King’s Easy Buy Direct business to successfully adopt transformational change needed to unlock the desired business value.
As the business goes through rapid expansion and growth, it has become extremely critical to ensure that EasyBuy business’s performance is underlined with processes that are robust, seamless and efficient to serve the customers.
This role will look at processes in all areas of business such as Sales, Collections, Marketing, Operations, HR, Finance, Partnerships, New Product Introduction and Pilots, Training, Call Centers, Training and Platform management, and drive process orientation, standardized best practices, and seamless cross-functional coordination.
The role requires the individual to analyze processes from the customer's standpoint and work with teams across the organization in order to drive sustainable business process change.
This will entail coming up with strategies to optimize processes that reduce costs, time and effort and ultimately drive productivity and ROI for the business.The individual is expected to leverage best practices in change management, project management, automation and digitization to eliminate or reduce reliance on complex, manual, error-prone processes.They will be leading a team of specialized staff who are deployed to execute the transformation initiatives across countries.
In summary, the core focus of the Business Transformation Africa Lead is to:
Lead the centralized Project Management Office function within the organization
Lead Business Transformation projects for EasyBuy (make changes to processes, people, products, and technology or systems)
Champion process improvements on processes impacting EasyBuy Direct
Coordinate research and strategy for EasyBuy improvements in products, services and KPIs such as growth.
What you would be expected to do
Modelling different aspects of new interventions or projects, from economic viability to opportunity cost and using models as a basis for prioritisation of interventions. You will use quantitative analysis for the decision making process of what to work on first while referring to the pareto principle as a guide for prioritisation.
Work with field and HQ teams to draw ideal and simple processes improvements that makes life easier for all concerned while creating additional value for our customers. Your objective is to bring joy to those whose work you have made easier.
Leverage tools and technologies to automate, digitise processes and make them efficient/quicker. You default to automation, as long as it’s optimal without necessarily purchasing new software
Grow buy-in from project stakeholders through nurturing relations and collaboration. You don’t demand support, you are naturally talented in being offered support.
Draw our new processes/process changes and implementation plan. Clearly documents new processes and draw simple process flow diagrams. You act only with supporting documents, facts and real world examples.
Drive cross functional engagement, training, and agreement on process changes, ownership, accountability and measurements that are successfully adopted and implemented. You are ready to fail, rethink and try again, if that’s what ‘s required to drive adoption, trying something once is not often not enough.
Build an internal process audit capability to preserve changes implemented and increase value for the business and our customers while conducting audits. You will practise rigour and critical mindset comparable to any major auditing firm.
Drive the design, implementation and continuous improvement of new pilots/projects or initiatives that are innovative or transformative for the business. You will be comfortable taking off with a pilot without knowing exactly where it will land.
You might be a strong candidate if you:
Have 5 or more years professional experience in a fast-paced organisation, preferably in PAYG and Off-grid solar space, in areas related to process management, setting up operations and working closely with field teams with a track record of success, where you developed skills in at least 5 of the following areas:
Business Transformation
Lean Six Sigma
Process Audit
Project/Pilot Management
Analytics (Business Intelligence or Data Science)
Business Process Management/Automation
New Product/ New Business development
Product Management
Design Thinking
A deeper domain knowledge & understanding of consumer financing, off-grid solar and mass market distribution channels.
A strong entrepreneurial spirit and excitement about the opportunity to creatively build effective, non-traditional sales channels in a nascent product category
Written and oral fluency in English
Willingness to spend at least 20% of the time travelling, interacting with field teams, understanding cross functional engagements to understand the ins and outs of a new business
Comfort working independently and remotely in a lean environment
Passion for Sun King’s social mission to power access to brighter lives by bringing innovative, trustworthy, renewable energy and to underserved consumers
