Job Title: Financial Accountant

Job Summary

• Provide detailed accounting support to the Finance Department, which includes periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate accounting system of records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets.

Total Quality & Compliance Management Systems Functions:

• Improve the company’s accounting operations, especially the control systems, transaction-processing operations, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Maintain proper referencing and archiving of payments and receipts documents.
• Support scheduling regular compliance reviews in accordance with internal policies, procedures, and practices.

Treasury Management Functions:

• Support loan requests and processing with the banks on a periodic basic
• Support in negotiating competitive interest rates for all loan facilities.
• Manage payables with all supporting documents and report age analysis on a periodic basis.
• Process payment advice, with supporting documents and instruments to bank (s)
• Assist in the preparation of forecast cash flow positions and available funds for investment.
• Process payments to vendors, suppliers, and third parties in line with both expenditure and payment approvals.

Financial Reporting Functions:

• Maintain daily cash books for all operating and collection accounts.
• Reconcile bank accounts weekly and provide accurate balances for decision-making.
• Manage and reconcile General Ledger accounts.
• Update operating accounting software with financial data daily.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS).
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for annual audit.
• Comply with state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Liaise with other departments to ensure timely preparation and review of financial accounts.
• Support the preparation of the company’s budget and in delivering the budget process.
• Support timely reporting to management on budget variances and the rationale for such variances.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Qualification & Requirements

• Minimum B.Sc / BA/HND in Accounting or related field
• ACA or ACCA or CPA Certification
• Audit experience with the big four is an added advantage.
• 3 years’ experience in accounting, treasury operations or corporate finance.
