Bursar at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic

Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic is a tertiary education institution in Zaria Kaduna State, Nigeria. The polytechnic was established on 2nd February, 1989 by the Kaduna state government to provide training and development techniques in the Field of engineering, applied science, commerce and other spheres of learning. The polytechnic is one of the tertiary teaching institutions owned and managed by the Kaduna State government. The polytechnic was named after the then Nigeria's foreign minister Nuhu Bamalli.

In accordance with the provisions of the Polytechnics' law, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position below which will be vacant with effect from 30th June, 2023:

Office of the Bursar

• The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic.
• Shall be responsible to the Rector for the day to day administration and control of the financial affairs of Polytechnic.
• He/she is one of the Principal Officers of the Polytechnic.
• He/she heads the Bursary department and the custodian of the Polytechnic finances.

Qualifications / Experience
Candidate applying for the position of the Bursar must possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• First Degree with at least a second class lower division or Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least lower credit in Accounting or Finance related courses from a recognized institution of higher learning
• Have a minimum of Eighteen (18) years cognate experience for First Degree and HND holders or Master's Degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience or a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in relevant discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years cognate experience, at least ten (10) years of which must have been gained in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution
• Registration with ICAN or ANAN;
• Currently on the rank one level below the rank of the Bursar (Le. Deputy Bursar) for a period not less than four (4) years in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution;
• Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and accounting packages;
• Not more than fifty-five (55) years of age as at the date the post will become vacant;
• Demonstrate evidence of strong financial and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in financial policy formulation, good human relation and positive managerial attributes;
• Knowledge in the Financial Rules and Regulations of the Polytechnic system:
• Provide evidence of membership of professional bodies/bodies
• Person who is not likely to pursue, racial, gender, political, religious or other sectional interest;
• Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment; and
• Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a Government hospital).

Term of Appointment and Conditions of Service

• The appointment for the post of Bursar will be for an initial period of four (4) years renewable for a second and final term of another four (4) years.
• Salary of the Bursar is CONTÍSS 15 and
• Shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic as provided by the scheme of service.
