Job Description
Position Summary:

• The Porter at Huxton Hotel plays a vital role in providing exceptional guest service by assisting with the handling of luggage, maintaining cleanliness of public areas, and offering assistance to guests.
• This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.
• The Porter reports to the Front Office Supervisor or Front Office Manager and collaborates with various departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests upon arrival, assist with luggage handling, and provide a warm welcome to create a positive first impression.
• Escort guests to their assigned rooms, explaining hotel facilities, amenities, and room features along the way.
• Offer assistance and provide information to guests regarding local attractions, transportation, and hotel services.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of public areas, including the lobby, entrance, and common areas, ensuring a welcoming and presentable environment.
• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of luggage storage areas, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of guest belongings.
• Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and professionally, striving to exceed guest expectations.
• Coordinate with the front desk and other departments to ensure timely delivery of guest requests, such as extra amenities, room service, or transportation arrangements.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the hotel's facilities, services, and emergency procedures to provide accurate information to guests.
• Monitor and report any suspicious or unauthorized activities in public areas to ensure the safety and security of guests and hotel property.
• Assist with crowd control during peak times, ensuring smooth traffic flow and efficient guest movement in public areas.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment needed for porter services, promptly reporting any shortages or maintenance needs.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of guest luggage, and promptly report any safety hazards or incidents.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective communication and teamwork, supporting a positive work environment.
• Uphold the hotel's standards of exceptional guest service, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required to enhance skills and knowledge of job responsibilities.

Qualifications

• OND or equivalent; additional certification or training in hospitality is a plus.
• 2 - 4 years relevant work experience.
• Previous experience as a porter or in a similar guest service role is preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy luggage, stand for extended periods, and navigate stairs or crowded areas.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate handling of guest belongings and timely delivery of requests.
• Basic knowledge of local attractions, transportation options, and hotel services to assist guests with inquiries.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues from different departments.
• Professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to the hotel's grooming and uniform standards.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to follow proper procedures to ensure guest and employee safety.
