Transformation Project Manager at the Confederation of African Football (CAF)

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Transformation Project Manager

Location: Cairo, Egypt
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract Duration: 2 years

Description 

• You believe you have the educational background and professional experience to elevate the organization to the highest international standards?
• We are looking for a Transformation Project Manager to join our Operations team on a 2-year fixed term contract to drive and deliver the operational projects and initiatives across the organisation.
• Using digital technologies to create new or modify existing operational processes, our objective is to achieve community and collaboration through agile workstreams and best-in-class solutions. We are formed into eight operational units and this role sits at the intersection where operational processes meet delivery and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Be a partner to the eight operational areas to understand their needs, opportunities, and determine innovative solutions to support strategy implementation.
• Develop and maintain relationships at all management levels within the organization.
• Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
• Determine the resources (time, money, tools, etc) required to complete the project.
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
• Lead project team to Execute the project according to the project plan.
• Monitor the progress of the project, quality of the work and make adjustments as necessary.
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project.
• Set up the required configuration governance to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
• Monitor and control the project financials within the set tolerances and report the status to senior management on a regular basis.

Requirements (Profile)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, or similar.
• A Postgraduate Degree in Project Management is an advantage.
• At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken), command of any other CAF Official language (French and/or Arabic) is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and be able to work with multiple sources of data.
• Ability to effectively partner with multiple teams (e.g., stakeholders, external vendors, end users).
• Ability to communicate effectively, creating presentations, work plans, and articulating ideas to management, partners, and vendors.
• Able to work independently.
• Be a champion of innovation to help solve operational problems.
• Prior experience in managing E2E projects from proof of concept to delivery.
• PMP certification or Prince 2 certification.
