MegaLectrics Limited is a reputable and wholly owned indigenous company with its headquarters in Lagos. The company was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in July of 2001. Megalectrics was in 2007, granted a Radio Broadcast Licence for Lagos. The company is presently operating four (4) radio stations from our 26, Keffi Street, Ikoyi office, and in other locations such as Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan. MegaLectrics is the operator of The Beat FM, Classic FM, Naija FM and Lagos Talks.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: News Reporter

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

Gather and analyze information about newsworthy events
Evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas
Edit and/or assist in editing and proofreading
Report and write news stories for publication or broadcast, describing the background and details of events.
Arrange interviews with people who can provide information about a particular story.
Review copy and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines.
Review and evaluate notes taken about event aspects in order to isolate pertinent facts and details.
Determine a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organize material accordingly.
Research and analyze background information related to stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information.
Gather information about events through research, interviews, experience, and attendance at political, news, sports, social, and other functions.
Discuss issues with Head of news in order to establish priorities and positions.
Revise work in order to meet editorial approval or to fit time or space requirements.

Skills / Competence Requirements

Degree in Journalism, Communication, or related field
Minimum of 5 years' of professional experience in journalism with increasing levels of responsibility
Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
Outstanding ability to write and copy edit all digital content
To have a broad understanding of current global news trends and issues
Excellent editorial judgment of global issues.
