Job Title: Postman Documentation Engineer

Job Purpose

• We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postman Documentation Engineer to join our dynamic team.
• As a Postman Documentation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for our Postman API platform and associated tools.
• Your primary goal will be to ensure that our API documentation is clear, accurate, and user-friendly, enabling developers to understand and utilize our APIs effectively.
• Additionally, you will play a key role in automating API tests and running end-to-end tests over the documented APIs.
• Experience with Swagger API and other related documentation tools is highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality documentation for the Postman API platform and related tools, including API reference guides, tutorials, sample code, and other technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and technical writers, to gather information and ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation.
• Automate API tests using Postman or similar tools to ensure the functionality, reliability, and performance of our APIs.
• Run end-to-end tests over the documented APIs to validate their integration with various systems and identify any potential issues or inconsistencies.
• Work closely with software engineers to understand new features, enhancements, and changes to the API platform and translate technical information into user-friendly documentation.
• Utilize Swagger API and other related documentation tools to capture and generate API specifications and ensure consistency across different API endpoints.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of existing documentation to identify areas for improvement, such as content gaps, outdated information, or unclear instructions.
• Ensure that documentation follows best practices and industry standards for API documentation, including consistent formatting, clear explanations, and appropriate use of examples and code snippets.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in API documentation, automated testing, and related technologies, and proactively propose and implement improvements to our documentation processes and tools.
• Assist with documentation-related support inquiries, providing clear and concise responses to developers and users.
• Participate in the Postman developer community by answering questions, providing guidance, and sharing knowledge through forums and other communication channels.

Requirements
Special Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a technical writer, documentation engineer, or similar role, with a focus on API documentation and automation of API tests.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and web technologies, including HTTP, JSON, and OAuth.
• Proficiency in using Postman or similar API development and testing tools for automating API tests.
• Experience running end-to-end tests over APIs to ensure their integration and functionality.
• Familiarity with Swagger API and other related documentation tools for capturing and generating API specifications.
• Familiarity with documentation tools and technologies, such as Markdown, Git, Swagger, or OpenAPI
• Knowledge of software development practices and programming languages, such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or Ruby, is a plus.
