Description 

• Our organization needs a Business Consultant to join her team of auditors, tax consultants & business advisors in the Access to Finance unit. The business consultant provides strategic direction to clients by ensuring that the clients have the relevant guide to accessing finance for their businesses.
• The Ideal candidate must be familiar with banks such as BOI, AFDB, BOA, NEXIM, etc.
• The person must have worked in a finance house or a Bank and have experience of sourcing loans for organizations seeking to establish, grow or expand their business
• The successful person must be able to prepare business plans, and business proposals, write letters, and source for clients who require this finance for their existing or soon-to-exist businesses he/she must be a people person. The ideal candidate should have some experience in running or advising early-stage businesses, growing & expanding business.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of well-documented proposals on behalf of the client to banks such as bank of Industry (BOI), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), African Development Bank (AFDB) etc
• Source for businesses/clients who require funding for start-ups, medium to large organizations who want to expand their business or start a big company
• Ensure that the audit team of the company prepares timely audited/cash flow statements for clients.
• Create Budgets and monitor budgetary performance
• Prepare regular reports to the Executive management and clients
• Establishing relationships with the banks in order to obtain business loans for clients.
• Act as a guide to the client throughout the loan acquisition process
• Develop an understanding of the existing business (including products/services, customers, competitors, the overall market and trends) through careful research and analysis
• Understand how major stakeholders are thinking about near-term growth, generally and in reference to specific growth initiatives, through interviews with these stakeholders
• Build a detailed financial analysis showing all of the assumptions, drivers, and financial statements for the next 3 - 5 years, accounting for a conservative, base, and aggressive case
• Review research reports and conduct primary research to hone in on ideal buyer type and assess customer demand for the company’s existing products and services
• Map out direct and indirect competitors, including potential future competitors, for existing and potential revenue channels
• Developa go-to-market strategy, including testing out potential marketing channels (if applicable)
• Review compensation plans and organizational structure to align incentives and ensure the health of the organization in the long-run

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Economics, or related analytical discipline preferred
• Financial management experience with planning, forecasting, and business analysis; prior experience as an advisor to or executive at an early-stage company a plus
• Advanced Excel proficiency. 3+ years of practical experience of using Excel for building and maintaining financial models
• Must be able to prepare and monitor Budgets
• Proficiency with analytical and presentation tools (Excel pivot tables, SQL queries, graphing, PowerPoint)
• Must have worked in a Bank or Finance House in a similar capacity
• Must have at least 4 years in a similar capacity.
• A natural curiosity and a “big picture” mentality
• Experience conducting market research, including analyzing and synthesizing research reports and conducting primary research
• An understanding of marketing channels and go-to-market strategies
• Excellent spoken and written communication
• Must be a go-getter.
