Job Title: Content Writer Intern

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• We are looking for a skilled and ambitious corp member with at least a year of experience in writing and creating clickable content on socials to join our news blog team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, reporting news stories and creating social media-worthy content on a wide range of topics, and ensuring that all content is high quality, accurate, and engaging.
• He/She will be expected to conduct interviews, attend events, and use a variety of sources to gather information for their stories.
• They will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and other members of the team to ensure that all content aligns with the publication's goals and editorial guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Research, write, and report news stories on a variety of topics
• Conduct interviews with sources and gather information from a variety of sources, including online research, public records, and other sources
• Attend events and press conferences to gather information for stories
• Manage social media page of the blog
• Pitch story ideas to the Editor-in-Chief and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure timely delivery of content
• Ensure that all content meets the publication's standards for accuracy, quality, and style
• Stay up-to-date on current events and trends, and adjust the editorial strategy as needed
• Use SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and social media platforms

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field
• One or less years of experience in a reporting or journalism role, preferably in a digital media environment
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Strong research and investigative skills
• A strong and really active presence on social media with a digital footprint of work done
• Strong interest in gossip and content creation
• Proof of social media management skill
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
