Job Title: Handyman / Facility Manager

Responsibilities
General Repairs: Conducting repairs and maintenance on school buildings, classrooms, offices, and common areas. This includes fixing broken furniture, doors, windows, and light fixtures.
Plumbing and Electrical: Handling basic plumbing tasks like fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining bathroom facilities. Additionally, dealing with minor electrical issues, such as changing light bulbs and ensuring electrical outlets are working correctly.
Painting and Carpentry: Touching up paint on walls, doors, and other surfaces as needed. Performing minor carpentry work, such as building shelves, repairing cabinets, or fixing broken furniture.
Grounds Maintenance: Maintaining the outdoor areas of the school, including the playground, sidewalks, and parking lots. This may involve mowing the lawn, pruning trees and bushes, and removing debris.
HVAC Systems: Assisting with the maintenance and basic repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone in the school.
Safety and Security: Inspecting and maintaining safety equipment like fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and exit signs. Assisting with security measures, such as installing and repairing locks.
Event Setup: Setting up and dismantling equipment and furniture for school events, meetings, and functions.
Inventory Management: Keeping track of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment and reporting when items need to be restocked or replaced.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to health and safety regulations and maintaining a safe working environment.
Communication: Communicating with school staff and administration regarding maintenance needs, completed tasks, and potential issues.
Emergency Response: Responding promptly to urgent maintenance requests and addressing emergency situations.
Collaborating with Contractors: Coordinating with external contractors for major repairs and renovations that may be beyond the scope of the handyman's capabilities.
Qualification and Experience
Basic level of education is acceptable with minimum of 2 years work experience is alright.
Skills:
Repair and Maintenance Expertise: Proficiency in a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general building repairs.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and find practical solutions efficiently.
Hand Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with various hand tools and power tools, and knowing how to use them safely and effectively.
Attention to Detail: Being meticulous and thorough in performing tasks to ensure quality and safety.
Time Management: Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to complete projects within deadlines.
Physical Fitness: The job may involve lifting heavy objects, working in tight spaces, and being on your feet for extended periods.
Communication: Good communication skills to understand maintenance requests and update supervisors or residents on the status of repairs.

Budgeting and Financial Management: Managing budgets, expenses, and contracts related to facility maintenance and services.
Communication and Negotiation: Effective communication with staff, contractors, and higher management, as well as negotiating contracts and agreements.
Customer Service: Addressing concerns and requests from occupants and users of the facility.
