Job Title: General Manager - Technical
Employment Type: Full-time
To establish and implement the strategy for technology-enabled business solutions, lead capable team to design, Build and Implement viable and commercially sustainable technical business solutions.
Giving direction and leadership towards the achievements of the company’s philosophy, vision, mission, strategy and its annual goals and objectives, in line with the guidelines set by the company.
Formulate and execute business programs for technology-enabled business solutions and plans to promote and ensure the company’s continuing success and growth in the design, build and implementation of the solutions.
Promote overall direction and leadership and set standards for the Business Units – Must have previous deep IP technical lead experiences with certifications in new technology areas showing depth of knowledge and skills.
Championing all company change initiatives by ensuring awareness and commitment by all staff to such initiatives.
To provide guidance and assistance to Directors, Senior managers and staff on strategic issues.
To coordinate efforts of all units of the company with particular emphasis on exploiting the synergies, competencies and resources of the company.
Achieve efficiency, effectiveness and financial objectives of the company by effectively recruiting and managing a strong and productive team for the technical team
Guide and agree plans/budgets and targets, monitor activities and performance of the teams in line with the overall corporate objectives.
Establish and promote effective systems for reporting and communications within Business Units and within the unit for measuring and monitoring the unit’s overall performance periodically.
Foster a company-wide culture of excellence based on continuous learning and continual improvement and anchored on Telnet’s guiding principles of Customer focus, professionalism, honesty and integrity and teamwork.
Promote an enabling environment where employees are adequately motivated and ensure that management system reflects the values of the company.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with major customers and others in public, government and business community necessary for ensuring positive mindshare, and the company’s continued growth.
Develop and implement effective succession plan for the team.
Lead and empower the team members for growth and profitability.
Understand technology trends and use case for customer needs to craft new business areas and develop solutions in conjunction with the business development teams and other subject matter experts.
Engage C-Suites for solutions and position unit members for sales and solution closure with customer.
Coordinate all unit activities and foster healthy working relations between the unit and other units within the company for growth and profitability – liaise and coordinate with business development unit for technical inputs into customer visit, proposal and quotation drafting and submission.
Develop new products, solutions and services based on technology trends and deep understanding of technology.
Coordinate the team’s interface with other units in the company.
Responsible for delivery on key performance metrics as set by the company for the unit, coordinate staff competence development through coaching and training.
To submit monthly reports on the activities of the division not later than seven days after the end of the month
Responsible for unit’s coordination, operations and any other strategic duties as may be assigned by the MD.
