Job Title: Industrial Plumber

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Roles and Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures in industrial settings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and configuration of plumbing systems.
• Install and connect pipes, fittings, valves, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
• Inspect and test plumbing systems for leaks, blockages, or other malfunctions.
• Repair or replace damaged or worn-out pipes, fittings, or fixtures.
• Collaborate with other trades people and contractors to ensure proper coordination during construction or maintenance projects.
• Install and maintain industrial water supply and drainage systems.
• Install and repair specialized plumbing systems, such as compressed air, steam, or chemical lines.
• Follow safety protocols and comply with relevant building codes and regulations.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and parts inventory.
• Estimate material requirements and prepare cost estimates for plumbing projects.
• Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices or less experienced plumbers.

Qualifications

• Technical Certification in Plumbing
• HND / B.Sc in Engineering is an added advantage
• Minimum of 3 years experience
• In-depth knowledge of industrial plumbing systems, including pipe materials, fittings, valves, and fixtures commonly used in manufacturing settings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of pipes, including copper, steel, PVC, and CPVC.
• Familiarity with different joining methods, such as soldering, brazing, welding, or threading.
• Understanding of industrial water supply and drainage systems, including pumps, pressure regulators, and backflow prevention devices.
• Knowledge of specialized plumbing systems, such as compressed air, steam, or chemical lines, and their associated equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety protocols related to plumbing installations and repairs.
• Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle tools and perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members.
