Job Title: Able Seaman

Job Function

• To Perform general maintenance, repair, sanitation and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas in the vessel. This can include maintenance of the Vessel's metal structures such as chipping, scraping, cleaning, greasing, priming, and painting.

Responsibilities

• Comply with company’s safety rules and procedures.
• Carry out instructions as specified by the Captain.
• Committed to Safety and Company Procedures in all tasks
• Maintain deck equipment and machinery as specified by Captain.
• Clean, maintain, grease and oil rotating/static equipment, the hull, decks, superstructure, cargo gear, and smoke stack
• Assist in other engine room duties should there be a requirement to do so
• Assist in cargo handling at offshore locations
• Prepare cargo for lift by attaching slings through shackles or other attaching devises.
• Assist in the mooring and unmooring of the vessel in port and at offshore locations
• Maintain a lookout in the hours of darkness or restricted visibility
• Responsible for using and maintaining deck department stores, spares and equipage.
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all vessels deck gear. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all ship’s safety equipment.
• Responsible for identifying and reporting needed repairs, assisting in the repairs and testing the repairs as directed
• Check loads for clearance, obstructions, balance and proper attachment.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the vessel’s coating systems and cleanliness of the vessel in general
• Stand watch as helmsman and lookout.
• Ensure deck cargo is adequately lashed giving due concern to weather forecasts, area and sea state
• Stand security-related watches, such as a gangway watch or anchor watch while the ship is not underway.
• Keep written hand-over notes to ensure efficient and accurate transfer of information thus handover must be copied to the OIM and DMD prior to the end of each rotation.

Requirements

• 5 years oilfield experience with at least 2 years in similar position Proven track record in the role of Able Seaman, preferably with oil tanker, support vessels experience.
• Security Awareness Training.
• Good English written and spoken.
• Mandatory Certification.
• Medical Fitness Certificate.
• Seaman Discharge book.
• BOSIET/HUET+ STCW.
