Job Summary
The Grade 2, 5, & 6 Assistant Teacher is responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students in their respective levels.
He/she must deliver effective instruction, foster student development, and collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student success.
Job Description
Teach assigned subjects to pupils according to curriculum plan.
Coordinate with other grade teachers to maintain consistency in the curriculum.
Develop lesson plans and instructional ideas according to school standards.
Motivate students to participate in various educational activities.
Develop creative learning opportunities for student’s education, social and behavioral growth.
Interact with parents to inform them about their children’s academic progress.
Create a positive, structured, learning, and safe environment for students.
Develop and maintain student behavioral and discipline policies.
Coordinate with other staff to evaluate and enhance curricular programmes for student academic excellence.
Accommodate different learning styles and instruction methodology for English language learners and special education students.
Use different assessment methods to evaluate student progress, their academic strengths, and weaknesses.
Maintain accurate attendance and grade records for each student.
Assist in planning and implementing school programs and other activities.
Develop positive parent-teacher relationships and promote parent-teacher partnerships.
Monitor student activities in school premises and ensure safety of every student in the classroom and school grounds.
Attend educational trainings and workshops for professional growth.
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with grade-level standards and educational goals.
Assessment: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction as needed.
Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
Parent and Guardian Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on teaching methodologies and educational trends.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other grade-level teachers, staff, and administrators to enhance the educational experience and address student needs.
Student Support: Identify and provide additional support or resources for students who require extra help or enrichment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Student Achievement: Measure the academic progress of Grade 6 students through standardized test scores, class assessments, and projects. KPI: Percentage of students meeting or exceeding grade-level standards.
Classroom Management: Assess classroom behavior and discipline. KPI: Rate of classroom disruptions and disciplinary actions.
Parent Satisfaction: Collect feedback from parents and guardians on their satisfaction with communication and the overall educational experience. KPI: Parent satisfaction survey results.
Professional Development: Track participation in workshops, conferences, and courses related to Grade 6 teaching. KPI: Number of professional development hours completed.
Collaboration: Evaluate contributions to team meetings and collaborative projects with other teachers. KPI: Frequency and quality of collaboration.
Student Support: Monitor the progress of students who receive additional support and their success in catching up with their peers. KPI: Percentage of students showing improvement with additional support.
Innovative Teaching: Assess the incorporation of innovative teaching methods and technology into the classroom. KPI: Integration of technology and innovative practices.
Classroom Environment: Evaluate the organization and aesthetics of the classroom as a conducive learning space. KPI: Classroom environment assessment scores.
Requirements
Interested candidates should possess a BEd, PGCE or PGDE in relevant fields with 0 - 7 years work experience.
