St. Francis Catholic Secondary School (SFCSS), Idimu, is a Catholic school run by the North-West African Province of the Society of Jesus. It wasfounded in 1990 by a Jesuit priest, Fr.Francis Cusimano, S.J. the first set of students arrived in January 1991.St. Francis Catholic Secondary School runs the Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School Programmes as specified in the Nigerian National Policy on Education. It offers a wide variety of academic subjects taught by a dedicated and qualified staff. The student begins with a broad spectrum of subjects, which becomes more focused as he or she progresses.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Hostel Parent (Male)

Location: Idimu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description 

• Monitor and address any behavioural or social issues among the students.
• Wake students up at the stipulated time, ensure the students take their bath, clean up and lay their beds properly, and get ready for school.
• Provide emotional support and counselling when needed.
• Inspect students before they go to school.
• Assist in providing a friendly, caring, and safe environment for students.
• Daily inspection of dormitories to make sure they are neat and well kempt.
• Ensure that all appointments, accidents, and disciplinary matters are recorded.
• Inspection of lockers and bags for contraband in the hostel.
• Ensure the students participate in all indoor and outdoor activities required.
• Continuous check during the night to make certain the students are asleep in safe positions.
• Enforce the siesta and make certain that sleeping conditions are good.
• Monitor the children during sporting activities.
• Supervision of prep activities.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Hostel Parent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A good understanding of the schooling system
• Active listening skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well and respond patiently and effectively to the requests of students, parents, and staff
• Professional, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and flexible.
