We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Early Warning System (EWS) Coordinator

Scope of Role

  • Reports to: EWS Manager

Key Areas of Accountability
Programme Planning, Development and Management:

  • Frequently review entries of incidents, interventions, SCI’s interventions, entities, and other related information submitted to the EWS platform for quality and publish those meeting the minimum requirement and/or feedback to contributors for improvements.
  • Manage the data recorded in the EWS platform and related tools, including double-checking / monitoring / translating entries in the system, and ensuring proper storage of information entered by the volunteers.
  • Ensure continuous increase in the data submissions by partners and volunteers to the EWS platform.
  • Ensure quality control of the data entered in the system, making sure it meets the minimum requirements.
  • Support routine data analysis and drawing of insights from EWS platform data and ensure timely dissemination of the information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support EWS Manager to update and disseminate results from the EWS platform.
  • Proactively support and identify new key sources of data, information and support for the system including volunteers, and partner organizations.
  • Train a network of volunteers in using and accessing EWS.
  • Provide continuous support to EWS volunteers (email, telephone), as needed.
  • Provide feedback to EWS Manager on gaps in the EWS including additional tools required or gaps in information gathering and feed into lessons learned.
  • Coordinate EWS partners' and volunteers' engagements, performance, and network growth across locations.
  • Support field staff in accessing and using data from EWS for decision-making, improved anticipatory programming,
  • Support the EWS Manager Expansion, scale-up and management of EWS including subsequent assessment, continuous planning, new feature set-up, testing and roll-out.
  • Support monitoring of expenditure of budget correctly in accordance with budget parameters and donor rules through expenditure tracking, transaction validation and timely invoice processing.
  • Collaborating closely with technical EWS consultant.
  • Draft periodic project progress reports (including challenges) by carrying out ongoing reviews and analysis to flag emerging challenges and ensure broad stakeholder buy-in.
  • Lead regular performance reviews, feedback and catch-up meetings with volunteers and partners supporting the EWS.
  • Upon request, prepare presentations about EWS for internal or external audiences from time to time.

Knowledge Management, Capacity Building, and Training:

  • Support drafting of development of learning materials, guidance, tools, and SOP of EWS.
  • Support on building capacity/ knowledge of relevant colleagues, partners, and volunteers on the use of EWS.
  • Ensure the inclusion of relevant colleagues/end users in the testing of new features, and updates on EWS to ensure its fitness for purpose.

Communications, Engagement, and Representation:

  • Support the development and implementation of a communications plan to effectively engage, sensitize and mobilize stakeholders to support the effective delivery of EWS.
  • As and when needed, collaborate with local actors and partners meeting to provide insight and guidance about EWS.
  • Take the lead in the advocacy, communication, and precipitation of support for the EWS amongst staff in the field offices, local partners, and volunteers.

Safeguarding and Safe Programming:

  • Ensure safeguarding principles are upheld throughout the implementation of the early warning system including the process of information gathering, content management and dissemination.
  • Ensure all stakeholders, contributors and participants in the EWS are sensitized and uphold safe programming principles.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Development Studies, or Social Sciences
  • Minimum of five years work experience in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, MIS, advocacy, or community mobilization-related experience.
  • Experience working with INGOs or humanitarian / development organizations.
  • Solid work experience with databases.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language.
  • Experience or understanding of working in an emergency environment.
  • Good knowledge of assessments, data collection and report writing.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage lead and manage community volunteers.
  • Experience working with local partners.
  • Experience with web and/or mobile technology-based information management systems or databases.
  • Commitment to uphold Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Commitment to uphold principles of do no harm and confidentiality.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working managing community volunteers and working with partner staff.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian context.
  • Fluency in written or spoken Hausa language.
