ColdHubs Limited is a social enterprise that designs, installs, commissions, and operates 100% solar-powered walk-in cold rooms in marketplaces and farm clusters, for small-holder farmers, retailers, and wholesalers to store and preserve fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable food 24/7 and extend their shelf life from 2 days to 21 days. ColdHubs aims to eliminate the impact of food spoilage facing 470 million smallholder farmers globally, due to a lack of reliable and well-situated cold storage at key points, within the food supply chain.

Our solar-powered walk-in cold rooms branded as - ColdHubs; are specially designed to eliminate losses of fruits, vegetables, and other perishable food due to lack of reliable cold storage completely and increase the income of farmers and retailers because previous losses have been eliminated. ColdHubs has been installed in farms, horticultural produce aggregation centers, and outdoor food markets within the south and north regions of Nigeria.

Job Description

• We seek to hire a full time, Solar Water Technician and Plumber, with experience in water drilling, solar water pump installation, plumbing and maintenance, guaranteeing regular water supply for ice block production at all ColdHubs IcePoints.
• Ability to work in the field, flexibility with changing working conditions.
• The Solar Water Technician and Plumber will be part of the ColdHubs Technical Team and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ColdHubs Limited.

Responsibilities

• Water borehole/well drilling site analysis and selection.
• Water borehole/well drilling.
• Installation of submersible and surface AC and DC pumps.
• Undertakes all electrical and electronics connections.
• Commissioning of submersible and surface AC and DC pumps.
• Ability to work in the field, flexibility with changing working conditions.
• Prepare BOQ and quotes for solar and pumping systems for all applications.
• Make field assessments for various solar and water pumping projects.
• Design, install/construct and supervise solar and water pumping projects.
• Conduct technical trainings and workshops internally and externally as and when may be approved by management.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and technical support for new and existing solar pump facilities.
• Supervises project implementation and provides quality assurance assessments from projects being implemented.
• Prepares evaluation reports on projects that have been completed.
• Provide marketing team with technical support for marketing material preparation.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office
• Experience with pump electronic control systems preferred.
• Prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering or Water Resource-related field
• 5 years of experience in a related position
• Reports/works directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ColdHubs Limited.
• Permanent office position with extensive field work.
• Extremely focused, on top-of-the-matter always.
• Extremely detailed, with good thought process in technical skills and use of design-based software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and trustworthy.
